now go annoy your representatives to smack down KOSA, and encourage them to make an act to prohibit age verification that requires ID. Calls, letters, emails, votes- the works! Things arent as bleak as they could be, and things are NEVER as hopeless as the opposition tries to make us believe

The SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.

For those not aware somehow, KOSA and the Screen Act are being voted on in the senate on Aug 5th. If they pass, it literally means all of our internet will be under age verification, same as the UK and Aus. It's starting soon on Discord in Texas. I was already gated off Bsky once bc of this bs.

My state will be the first forcing the uk style age verify on discord.. I don't even do anything of value on discord but that still sucks. I keep in touch with online only friends.. of which there are quite a few. KOSA is being voted on Aug 5th as well.
