Brand New Dispatches! We're tearing into the American Party (better known as the Know-Nothings), the playbook that MAGA took from them, and bloody tragedies that those paths cause. Homes burned, lives lost, and blood ankle deep on the streets. This is the tale of Louisville, KY's Bloody Monday.

These Bloody Streets: What The Know Nothing Riots of Kentucky Teach Us About MAGA

Outside my window, Augustus has begun to chase away the boiling heat of July, but not nearly fast enough. We in the hills call this time of…

Watching the kid get mad at herself for having to ask me for help is the most “oh you’re my clone” stuff ever. I love the Sprat dearly but she’s got my “blame myself for every hardship” streak. Upside - thanks to you guys I bought her grub today including water (never drink tap here).

If you’ve not heard @sjtuckermusic.bsky.social I can’t recommend her enough. Check it out! Amazing artist and really really cool person.

It's Bandcamp Friday, so artists receive 100% of all purchases on their Bandcamp pages today. Among the treasures on @sjtuckermusic.bsky.social's Bandcamp page are three variations of Sooj's magnificent riff on my story "Gramma Wolf' Garden." Enjoy! sjtucker.bandcamp.com/album/gramma...

New Dispatch from Appalachia will be going up later tonight/early in the morning. This one dealing with the deadly Know-Nothing led riots of Bloody Monday and what we can learn about MAGA from their history.

I mean obviously I’m getting back to the dispatches but I gotta stop the whole waterworks and emotional yammerings first. Can’t exactly conjure angry HST vibes with with a big dose of hope lodged in my fucking heart.

Sprat Dialogues: Sprat: “Holy shit someone sent you -that-…I should become a writer.” Me: *Wiping away tears* “Do you like money and happiness?” Sprat: “Bruh..” Me: “Then never say that again.”

The Sprat Dialogues: Me: "I'm thinking of doing a Dispatch about how finding out about you changed my life, kiddo." Sprat: "You better only use the good pictures of me." Me: "Actually I was planning on using only the worst pictures of you...the very worst..." Sprat: "DON'T MESS WITH MY GAME!"

Still working on “Petey Moskowitz: Wizard’s Apprentice” and really trying hard on this one because…you know…LGBTQ+ kids and fans deserve more wizards who aren’t related in any shape or form to a certain shitty British lady. I usually write horror, noir, or stuff like that but it’s worth a try.

Parenting Tip of the Day: Occasionally your daughter and her girlfriend will scoff at your “old man jar of pickles” lore and you’ll be forced to walk an Appalachian back road to get a home made jar of pickles from an old man who only communicates in “Yups”. They’ve renounced store bought.

Parenting Tip: Sometimes you will have to run to the store and buy an entire pack of double stuffed Oreos to give to your daughter because she, and I quote, "Promised the Princess I would save her some if she took a nap and I ate them all".

I’m just a small town writer, but I think that it would be really cool if the next Appalachian character in Marvel wasn’t a Guthrie… …but a Melungeon person. One of the oldest peoples in Appalachia and often under represented. A dash of probability powers. Boom. “Kasher” is born.

Picked this up from the KY wildlife page. Did you know that there are a variety of species of owl in Appalachia? And guess what - they all hate data centers. All of them. Every owl hates data centers. Scientific fact. Probably.
