I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
Personally I don't believe a community made up of minorities, queers, the socially misunderstood, the neurodivergent and the disadvantaged needs role models with $10k+ fursuits, custom avatars, expensive holidays and influencer-style hot takes.

Not going to name names here but... Young furries especially twitch streamers need to knock off the ageism shit. 50 is not senior citizen. I was watching a streamer today who called 50 "seriously old age". And I'm insulted. People my age MADE the fandom and are still making the fandom.
