Had a good time at the NJ Sheep Breeders Fiber fest yesterday. I don't need more fleece, but I got a gorgeous Jacob and a grey Cheviot. Also a few tools and couple braids of ShirstyCat BFL top. Really wanted a ram skull from the Jacob fleece vendor but wow, out of my budget. 🧶🐑 #handspinning

A car trunk full of raw fleece and a purple shopping bag of spinning tools and dyed top. I don't remember the breed, but these sheep with 4 horns are so cool looking.A very handsome Jacob fleece in the show ring. His horns are beautifully curled.

I am annoyed. Last week I indulged, ordered some yarn after a very stressful migraine filled work week. It arrived today, 2 of which are Fiberspates Vivacious 4ply. Thought it would be great for socks, turns out Vivacious 4ply is actually a 2ply yarn. WTF. Who names a 2ply yarn VIVACIOUS 4PLY?! 🧶🧦😒

The lying liar skeins of Vivacious 4ply that are actually only 2 ply.

PTO day shenanigans. Doing some things that are really hard to get to with an almost 5 year old around, like poly finishing some bobbins and whorls for my Ashford wheels. The grey fleece is drying nicely in the mesh hanger with the sun & breeze, making my neighbors think I'm crazy. 🧶 #handspinning

A hanging mesh herb dryer full of washed Romney/Gotland fleece drying in the sun. A lock of freshly cleaned Romney/Gotland fleece. An array of Ashford bobbins, whorls, and a flyer on a table covered in brown paper. Purchased/acquired bare, they are now getting a polyurethane finish.

Anyone remember KnitCrate? Monthly yarn clubs used to be a thing, not sure about now. Anyway, pulled this sport weight Vidalana KnitCrate skein from deep stash for a pair of socks for my mom. Squishy waffle texture! These are going MUCH FASTER than the socks I just finished for my husband. 🧶🧦🧇

The beginnings of a waffle stitch sock in a periwinkle lavender color, on Chiagoo dpns.

Some car knitting time, waiting at the vet clinic. I may finally finish these Vanilla is the New Black socks for my husband. All my projects this year have been complicated in some way, it's been forever since I had mindless sock knitting. 🧶🧦

A sock in progress on dpns, knit in Regia 4 ply yarn in a variegated grey and blue.

Next up, RomneyxGotland fleece. Much looser crimp than the white Romney, but serious drape. Insanely crimpy soft neck wool, & a weird patch of hairy long wool. Very offended at the 2nd cuts slicing through the middle of locks & the fistfuls of 2nd cuts wrapped up in the fleece. RUDE. 🧶#handspinning

A handful of charcoal grey wool locks.A selection of locks that were badly second cut. More horrible second cuts. Some of the weird hairy locks that had no crimp whatsoever. I don't believe this is characteristic of Romney or Gotland breeds, genetics and how traits are recessive or passed on is crazy science .

On my 4th fleece wash I'm leveling up my scouring tools with sifting pans & a new hanging "herb dryer". Also decided that two wash systems at a time is plenty, 3 is too much. I've also been keeping track of how many fleeces this gallon of Power Scour will get through.

Two sets of sifting cat litter bins being utilized to wash wool fleece, a pound at a time in laundry bags. A gallon of Power Scour is on the table between the bins. The gallon of Power Scour has a running list of dates and fleeces washed written on the side.A hanging, closed herb dryer is hanging outside in a garden. The washed work will be out inside to dry, to protect it from being blown away or attacked by critters and cats.

The knitted and crocheted items and handspun yarn that I'll be entering in this year's Grange Fair today. The past week was a blur of weaving in ends. This will be my first time entering handspun yarn. Patterns and yarns in alt text. 🧶 Fair opens Wednesday! I'll find out what happens on Saturday.
