My photo from ten years ago. About six years ago, I finished a horror novel, Drowning in a Shallow Pool, about this particular pool. I worked on it over the past year. And I'm here to tell you that it never gets easy figuring out what to do with these books you create...

Sestina is a lovely word for a cruel poetic form that has broken many. But Mike Ennenbach and I are here to say it can be done and we have witnesses, thanks to @candacenola.bsky.social and Danielle Yvonne. substack.com/home/post/p-...

I said this about @patricktumblety.bsky.social 's new book and now you should see why “Traversing a path of verse and prose, Patrick Tumblety lights a journey through gloom and joy in a challenging and ultimately blessed life.”--Craig Brownlie, author of THICK AS A BRICK www.amazon.com/dp/B0HLDX5Q1K

Mike Ennenbach goes all naturist with our ongoing poetic duel. His sijo is beautiful. Wait- what? That doesn't mean what I think? I'm pretty sure I know what a sijo is by now. Thanks to @danielleyvonne.bsky.social and @candacenola.bsky.social for letting us do this.

Week 38-M Ennenbach - Sijo

I was in Ohio last week and drove by the old high school. I spent a lot of time in the main administration building taking classes in Spanish, Latin, Math, English... This was also where a handful of us first studied computer programming on a donated something or other...

Look where I will be this weekend! I'll be wandering around and also doing the 3 pm panel Saturday on anthologies! I sign books! Say Hi!
"Sijo?" asked Mike Ennenbach. I reached for the poetic equivalent of "it tastes like chicken": "like a haiku, but different, and not Japanese", except my sijo is not chicken. It has bees. Thanks to @candacenola.bsky.social and Danielle Yvonne for supporting Mike's and my sijos, which are not haikus.

Tetractys - do not say it three times in a row! Mike Ennenbach did and here we are... Thanks to @candacenola.bsky.social and Danielle Yvonne for putting our work out there. candacenola.substack.com/p/09112026-p...

More than 20 years ago; pretty sure we had just descended from the top of the Mayan temple.
Tetractys is an odd poetic form, favored by poets looking to work brief. I’m not saying that’s Mike Ennenbach and me, but we have sestinas on the horizon. Appreciation to @candacenola.bsky.social and Danielle Yvonne for keeping our project before your eyes. candacenola.substack.com/p/09042026-p...

How hot was it? It was so hot the benches headed for the shade.

An epic fable from Mike Ennenbach as we round the bend into the final third of our yearlong poetic duel. We made it this far with the aid of @candacenola.bsky.social and Danielle Yvonne candacenola.substack.com/p/08282026-p...

Week 34-M Ennenbach - Fable

As opposed to some people we all know (looking at you Odysseus), I returned from my trip with images.
I've been away for a few days- delayed on the return trip, though fortunate to have @texascthulhu.bsky.social and @kaijupoet.bsky.social by my side in East Texas. Here you can see them dragging me inside when I became entranced by the Sirens of the Bayou.
Spent the last few days (years??) trapped on a lake with an alligator named Calypso, a hobgoblin, and a friend to the downtrodden. For now, let's just call it the start of a fable. For the end of a fable, read this week's poem. Thanks to @candacenola.bsky.social and Danielle Yvonne.

It looks like it's been ten years since I wandered around Rochester taking pictures of locations used in my novel The Politician's Peregrination. It remains available on audio- I should probably dust it off and re-release it.
Venn Diagram poetry is the next big thing- at least Mike E. and I are betting everything on it! Think of it as where poetry and Venn Diagrams intersect! Thanks to @candacenola.bsky.social and @danielleyvonne.bsky.social for continuing to post our pretty pictures with words.

Visited the Cleveland Museum of Art during a little down time this week.
Sometimes our poems are sweet! How could a Venn Diagram not be sweet? Right, Mike? Stop dipping the quill in your forearm! You promised something nice for next week! Excuse me- I need @candacenola.bsky.social and Danielle Yvonne. We have to sing to Mike again.
When people say they use AI to write, I have to wonder what they keep in their basement for inspiration because they need more bins like mine.
