In Dunedin for Christmas. I think it’s my fave NZ city after Wellington (sorry Auckland, I know we go way back, but a distance has grown between us).
'It is intelligent, entertaining and unearths many knotty opportunities for critical analysis...' The Spinoff's Claire Mabey recommends that Chris Luxon reads the forthcoming Star Gazers by Duncan Sarkies, and the beloved She's A Killer by Kirsten McDougall thespinoff.co.nz/books/03-12-...

Farewell to my baby brother, Damon/Eme. You were a good one, I wish we’d had more time.
This is bad news for New Zealand publishing as a whole (though unnecessarily mean about Grace Thomas). It will shrink the number of NZ books published, and weaken the industry as a whole, and Claire is a big loss. thespinoff.co.nz/books/10-05-...

Have added the Mariners arena ‘Industry Group Stadium’ to list of names where people needed to try harder.
It's not often I laugh out loud reading something. Magnificently sarcastic from start to to finish.

Ack I’m sorry to miss this one but you all should go!
Oh man! So sorry to hear this. What an excellent bookshop, and what a loss to the publishing/bookselling world :(
Yes, we’re closing – but it’s a decision we’re at peace with. We have loved owning GOOD BOOKS. But the economic environment has been very tough lately – & after a lot of discussion, we’ve decided to err on the side of caution & close under our own terms. ❤️ - Jane & Catherine
Enjoying The New Look on Apple - beautifully designed and filmed and good acting but please god why didn’t they spend a little more time on the words.
Was quite enjoying the detail of Masters of the Air until the latest episode where they made two blatantly false claims. Aviation nerd’s beware!
I’m 57k into my new book now thanks to the privilege of having time off work for writing. If only there was some way to give everyone the same time like, I dunno, proper support of the arts…
The first day of my writing leave, so naturally I am full of imposter syndrome! Just type something, ya big dummy.
The complete arrogance of thinking of a new ending to a hugely successful book, emailing it to the publisher and instructing them to forward it to the author! (thought is free, it’s what follows that is arrogant). We won’t be doing that mate, no matter how much it might ‘please you’.
. PERHAPS The last time is coming though we will never know. The last time I see you. The last time you need to walk away. The last time I saw you. The last time we never touched. .
First swim of the summer. Balena Bay, small swell from the southerly, busy beach, no jellyfish. 6/10.
Happy New Years Eve to everyone (except all the dicks who think they can control what goes in poetry). 🎉🥳🎉🥳🎉
