As we hurtle towards the now traditional mid-season marker of the Green Man's Auction later today, an update: it looks like the reign of the Winchester Monarchs has finally come to an end, and the tenure of the Oxford Academicals has started. But of course, that can all change at the auction later.

The Yellow Almanack's Rookie of Season 13 was Kealeboga Sargent, Bamburgh's ambitious dreamer. They had an impressive season when bowling, and posted an almost-average 97 SR+ with the bat. They were so impressive they were chosen for the Wicker Man, but were rescued from the flames by Tamworth.

So Winchester Monarchs win the league, and York Invaders win the cup. The Festival will start at midday; no live reactions here this week, but you can follow along here: cricklet.live

Season 13 might come down to the final game. Winchester are in 1st place, close to a historic threepeat. York can overtake them if they win their two remaining games at 9:30 and the cup final at 11:00. It doesn't get much closer than this. Watch here: cricklet.live

With ten games to go in Season 13, the table is remarkably close with just 4 wins separating 1st from 8th. Two-thirds of the teams are still in contention. Although let's be honest, Winchester are probably going to win a record third league title.

Noriko Fierro is our only Hall of Fame inductee this season. A strong batter who won the Batting Sceptre in their final season, they were also a top 20% bowler. They won the league a record four times, including the first ever season with their hometown club, the Bristol Lovers.

The Green Man's Auction has begun. Just looking at the duck counts, York are going to absolutely clean up.

Kefilwe Horák came back. Twice, actually. The first time it arguably wasn't really her. She was part of the Wicker Man's shambling revenant team; the dead returned to claw the world towards an eternal winter. But they all had the same hatred behind the eyes, a reflection of the Wicker Man's fury.

Congratulations to the Winchester Monarchs, who won Season 12 overnight. The Colt Cup will be decided in the final game of the season at 11am: London need to win by 73 runs, otherwise Winchester will be the first team to win the league/cup double.

The Crickletverse seems to have broken since the Green Man's Auction. The London Hipsters are on a record breaking winning streak, the Chichester Romans are consistently breaking all the wrong sort of records at the other end of the table... But will the Monarchs still be able to win the league?

We can confirm the Norwich Novelists Vs Winchester Monarchs game will go ahead at 7pm, despite poor light conditions. We'd like to reiterate our standard advice to players not to stare at the sun.

Everyone's always asking how the current crop of Cricklet players fit the traditional D&D alignment grid. Well, ask no more. (NB. This has not been signed off by either the Wicker Man or the Green Man.)

Ísak Opeyemi, the current holder of the Batting Sceptre, is described as a "Graceful Victorious Doppelgänger". Which raises the question: is Ísak the evil twin, or does he have one? And if he is the double, who is he the double of? Official investigation pending.

Transfer! The Green Man rose from behind the stumps and forced a trade: Giorgadze goes to the Bristol Lovers (where he slots in at the top of the batting order) and Vitale goes to the Tamworth Engineers. The Engineers are not pleased but the Green Man can't be reasoned with.

The Hall of Fame voting has just opened for Season 11's retirees, and while we of course wouldn't want to influence anyone's voting behaviour (which is sacred, and incidentally can be done on our discord channel), here is a summary of the four new nominees this week:
