Confession: I sometimes feel like all the AGU session announcements emails are a form of personal microaggression.
I'm sorry, this absolutely does NOT pass the smell test. Developing a camera optical system is not like going to the moon. I believe that they lost the design file for the current 50-year old IMAX system. I do not believe that it would be a huge effort to design a similar device.

Moving this discussion out of Gavin's replies. NOAA is about to update their precip frequency atlas to account for global warming non-stationarity (more rain!) In practice, what difference might that make to infrastructure design, insurance, legal compliance, etc? DISCUSS!

Atlas 15 does allow for non-stationarity in precipitation distributions, for both current and past precip (Volume 1) and future precept (Volume 2) water.noaa.gov/about/atlas15

A certain class of honest broker types have argued that increases in wildfires are due to forest management and fire suppression rather than climate change. Does this hold any water for Canada? I can't imagine that too much of Canada's boreal forests are managed (or have had fire suppression).
