I finally feel like Picard near the end of the episode ‘The Inner Light’ where he’s an old man on the doomed planet and he and everyone else knows the weather won’t ever be getting better now and it’s just a slow march to the end as the sun cooks us to a crisp. I miss the rain.

Part of trauma is recognising past events as accurate predictors of future outcomes. It's usually right. It's usually a good way of either avoiding repeat trauma, or being well prepared when it arrives. It's a good way to bat away risk and remain safe.

To this day I’ll never understand the hate and vitriol towards Prince Harry, especially when it’s nothing to do with being a Royal (you have no such hate for eg Prince William). Here I go once again laying the blame at the feet of the predominately right wing owned media but it’s a compelling one.

Most of my right wing friends believed the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom was embroiled in a homosexual extra-marital sex scandal because ‘rent boys’ firebombed his house, and that there were questions to be answered. It’s just been revealed this entire thing was a Russian psy op. All lies.
In my lifetime I’ve gone from no internet, to internet, to enshittified internet, then no social media, to social media, to enshittified social media run by psychotic Nazi goons in Russia’s pocket intent on destroying all the institutions of democracy and brainwashing the masses to serve the elite.
Honestly if the price for saving democracy was just blocking social media for all, I’d be happy with that. It’s added nothing good to the world at all, in aggregate.
