Sorry to say that posting may slow down a tad because: a) most of what I have posted was a backlog that I had built up before coming here b) the drive that I keep all my blender stuff on is being disagreeable and I want to fix that first

First time attempting to interact with whatever I may consider to be a following but UHHH What do folk think about opening a Twitter page for posting my art too? I've been pondering it but, Twitter is a whole other beast...

So for those who don't know, I love nature and am doing an internship monitoring birds. For your enjoyment: A pied avocet chick I tracked from roughly the point it hatched until fledgling stage. All photos taken by me. Feel free to ask me about the internship if you want me to ramble endlessly.

A pied avocet hatchling, pictured 5x over. From top left to bottom right: A few days old, roughly a week old, two weeks old, three weeks old and four weeks old. Pied avocets are among a category of shorebirds known as waders, which use their upturned bill to sweep the shallows for aquatic invertebrates such as sandworms. In their youngest stage their bill does not yet have a defined curve, and they mostly peck at insects and larvae on and below the water's surface. Pied avocets, like most waders, are expected to forage food from the moment they leave the egg: unlike many songbirds you may be familiar with, they are not fed by their parents, merely protected from danger while seeking food themselves.
