feel like i should say i do NOT blame Luci for this. he’s a depressed, isolated man, reconnecting with his daughter is not a straightforward path, and he clearly struggles with feelings of inadequacy it’s more frustration at the fandom not giving the same empathy to Charlie

Not solely to defend his daughter, but to prove he’s better than the competition. If Charlie did something out of competitiveness like that, the fandom would crucify her.
