I think what we can teach to our students and mentees/junior co-authors in these situations is how to deal with these experiences, and learn from them while also moving past them.

Trying to imagine the sad life of the person who felt the need to inform me that I'm not allowed to play *with* my kids on the playground, because the sign says it's only for persons under the age of 15.
I can't see the election changing anyone's mind. Trump didn't vote himself into office twice, or force congress to sit back and do nothing while he waged an illegal war that explicitly violates the constitutional limits placed on his power. The US doesn't have a Trump problem, it has a US problem.

Note: this drop in attendance was attributed to two main factors. (1) The impact of drastic cuts to science and research funding in the United States (2) The fact that many non-US researchers don't feel safe visiting The first sucks. The second disqualifies the US from ANY future consideration.
