After being dead broke for so many years, I have to tell myself that it's okay to buy flowers at the farmer's market. I have the money and flowers are nice.

I don't know what to take from Michigan, but I hope it means that being extremely cruel and weird and racist doesn't play well in Democratic primaries.
I don't pay the best attention, but I feel like I'm hearing more than a few centrist Dems describe the DSA as "sabotage." Brother, that isn't sabotage; it's the part of the left that doesn't want to beat you over the head and throw you in a ditch.
I do like what the Cubs added in terms of wacky names (Ryan Zeferjahn) at the deadline.
I hate where I'm from but there is kind of nothing better than drinking by the lake in the summer, poised between death and slow death.
Current* conditions near Oswego, NY:
Thinking about Licorice Pizza, The Killer, The Holdovers, and The Phoenician Scheme, and the merits of minor works. Serious American filmmaking being tough as it is, I feel like we're seeing fewer of these, because there's no time to lose. Better get your Statement made before the industry implodes.
For the sake of consistency I'm gonna continue being vaguely supportive of, but not really caring about, the WNBA.
The middle-aged lady next door, who maintains a pretty impressive garden of shrubs and flowers, is wearing a Plantifa shirt. I was not previously familiar with her game.
I just kind of consider whatever the Dodgers are doing a different sport.

LeBron taking helicopters to work for the next two years is a Built Different boast if I've ever seen one.
Pete Crow-Armstrong just hit a 10th inning homer 430 feet and then hit every celebration that's even halfway come across his mind while rounding the bases. He's becoming mythical.
Used book buys can be a blind lottery but holy fucking shit this The Breaks of the Game copy is beautifully intact.
Please let Dom write something for your boutique Fitzcarraldo 4K release. It'll be good!
Here is me shooting my shot: I recently won a national award for my film criticism at the Portland Mercury, but I have never been asked to do an intro, or a Q&A, or write an essay for a physical media release, so I would like to state that I am shamelessly available for all of those things.
I'm just sitting over here having enjoyed the Mendelsohn translation.
An overblown A24-style biopic about Dan Uggla called True Outcome.
Writers love telling you the names of plants. "He came upon a grove of poplar and sycamore, beneath which crept wisteria and wild clematis." Thanks man, definitely know what that looks like.
This experiment ends, inevitably, with the lacrosse team running a train on the social studies robot.

For some reason, this is the cost-cutting measure that offends me most. You bought the Portland Trail Blazers and don't want to pay Kevin Calabro to call the games? What the fuck is wrong with you?
Kevin Calabro tells me has decided to step away from Blazers broadcasting and will no longer call games for Portland. The team and its veteran play-by-play man had been in discussions on a new contract, but he called the offers "subprime" and he has decided to move on.
This is the quasi-intellectual version of when Adam Driver became a sex symbol and people were like "women are into weird-looking dudes." I assure you they are not. Your extensive notes on Berlin Alexanderplatz will not get you laid. www.theguardian.com/books/2026/j...
The rise of the ‘hot literati’: how reading became sexy
Celebrities are hosting literary clubs and designers are launching products emblazoned with the classics – but does reading’s trendy turn have a darker side?

My friend at the bar showed me a cool air quality app, so you can track when and where the air is shitty. Your throat gets sore and you look at the app and go "yup, I knew it."
