Inside OneTaste: Orgasm, Brainwashing & Transformation in the Matriarchal Cult with Ruwan Meepagala
What if the most dangerous thing about a cult isn’t that everything inside it is false, but that some of it actually changes your life?
If you've been searching for “what happened inside OneTaste,” “how cult brainwashing works,” or “how personal growth becomes manipulation,” this one's for you.
You'll learn:
- Why OneTaste felt so alive, intimate, and transformative to two 23-year-olds searching for freedom, connection, and something more than conventional life
- How real skills like empathy, intuition, emotional openness, and surrender can become tools of control when one person or organization gets to define what those qualities mean
- Why leaving a high-control group requires more than physically walking away, especially when the group has shaped your relationships, identity, desires, and sense of reality
In this episode of Eros & Earth, Megan sits down with Ruwan Meepagala, author of ORGSM, A Memoir, for an honest conversation about their shared experience inside OneTaste.
Both Megan and Ruwan entered the organization at 23, following breakups and a deep sense that ordinary life felt painfully limited. Inside OneTaste, they found a world that felt vivid, intimate, emotionally charged, and radically different from the lives they had known before. They developed real skills in empathy, intuition, sensation, vulnerability, and connection, but those skills existed alongside increasingly rigid demands for surrender, loyalty, money, and commitment.
Together, they explore why the truth about OneTaste cannot be reduced to a simple story of villains and victims. They discuss how healing and harm can happen in the same community, how genuine transformation can make manipulation harder to recognize, and how social belonging was offered or withdrawn depending on a person’s willingness to comply.
Ruwan also shares what it was like to experience OneTaste as a man inside what he calls a “matriarchal cult,” why the organization’s language around feminine surrender could conceal a deeply controlling hierarchy, and how he eventually had to reclaim the autonomy and masculinity he had been taught to distrust.
The conversation also moves beyond OneTaste into a larger question about the world we live in now. How much of reality is shaped by the people around us? How easily can an online echo chamber, political ideology, spiritual community, or AI system reinforce a worldview until it feels unquestionably true?
This episode is a nuanced exploration of power, belief, intimacy, identity, and the unsettling truth that someone can understand you deeply without necessarily having good intentions.
