anything made by a pencil is by definition not art. art requires intent and human experience, which pencils do not have.
Star Trek has inspired humans to create 3D printed body organs, needle-free medical injection systems, visual prosthetics you honestly cannot count how many humans would die without proper access to fiction, but it's gross that you would ever argue against access to fiction in the first place

the ai art debate is wild bc one side says "this computer program that can make pictures is a neat tool" and the other side says "every piece not made by this tool is automatically impressive to the audience bc anything a human makes by hand is automatically the best thing ever"
there's this joke about a scientist that discovers how to create life so he goes to heaven to tell god that we don't need him anymore because we can make our own life now and god asks him to demonstrate so the scientist stoops down to pick up some dirt and god says "that's my dirt, make your own"

Like you can be in the mood to draw or create something but then you see some AI slop and suddenly your creative battery just gets completely sucked out? I find myself very susceptible to this and have for some time now 🥀
