Nerd rant: Leave your inkjet printer connected to power (on standby). It will periodically run a maintenance cycle to prevent clogging. Sure it uses a little ink but the printer will *still work* the next time you click print. I bought one in 2017 which still works flawlessly thanks to this.

As a lover of CRTs and an enthusiast for replicating them visually... 👏 The horizontal blur is not a CRT effect. 👏 It's not the CRT doing that. 👏 It's the poor resolution of a composite video signal that does that. Home CRT TVs can have crispy sharp pixels with almost no blur with RGB input.

"Who's making cathode ray tube TVs?" one audience member asks. "A lot of video games for, like, the SNES and so on, were built with the explicit intention of using the cathode ray tube TV's blurring effect to blur together the pixels and create a more 3D image. When you upscale that to 1080p, it doesn't look the same - or right."
