A really beautiful, but sadly empty and deteriorating, Art Deco cinema in Cambridge. It was saved from demolition, but the challenge of re-use is a big one it seems. Love the super-shiny glazed tiles down the side elevation! 😍

The best thing I’ve eaten for ages…mango and raspberry sundae at Hotel Chocolat…yum! This isn’t an advert or anything, just recommending it as something delicious. Not cheap, but a treat and big enough to share 🥰

A summer afternoon by the river in St. Neots, Cambridgeshire 🥰

The wonderful south doorway to the Church of All Saints, Upper Dean, Bedfordshire 😍 There’s something about the proportions of the multiple arches, combined with the ogee headed wicket gate (little door within the main door) that is very aesthetically pleasing! 💕

The excellent arrangement of chimneys at Shandy Hall, Coxwold, North Yorkshire. This 15th century building was later home to Laurence Sterne, the 18th century author of the groundbreaking book, The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy 🤩

The fabulous door - and doorway - into the little gem that is St. Leonard’s Church, Old Warden, Bedfordshire. Just look at that detail! 🤩

A royal Tudor link? 😀 The amazing array of ornate woodwork in the Church of St. Leonard, Old Warden, Bedfordshire, which was installed here in the 1840’s, includes some that may have come from a private chapel of Anne of Cleves. If you zoom in you’ll see the AC monogram 🤩

Two really interesting figures either side of the chancel arch at St. Nicolas’ Church, Swineshead, Bedfordshire 😱

A beautiful arch of a recessed tomb (14th or 15th century) with intriguing doorway to a narrow little corridor 🤩 Church of St. Nicholas, Swineshead, Bedfordshire.

The beautiful and atmospheric interior of the Church of St. Nicholas, Swineshead, Bedfordshire- one of my favourites 🤩 It dates mainly from the 14th and 15th centuries and has lots of interesting architectural details, faint traces of a wall painting and some excellent pews 🥰

An interesting mid-17th century grave marker in the churchyard of St. Helen’s, Folksworth, near Peterborough. I haven’t seen that many external examples of this date, so it caught my eye!

The beautiful old buttermarket, on the ground floor of Newark Town Hall - an impressive 18th century building by John Carr. The colours are fab! 🤩

An absolutely brilliant cat slide roof in the town centre of Newark, Nottinghamshire. Doesn’t it make you want to slide down it?! 😀
