Bokura No Kisetsu (1983) has a gay couple befriend a young woman who's willing to birth a child for them to raise, while an estranged older couple they know reunites. As a pink film (which I think was the norm for queer cinema at the time) it's a breezy 60 minutes of mostly good vibes.

Tora-san's Rise and Fall (1975) brings back Ruriko Asaoka as fan favorite Lily, the only love interest that seems to be able to keep up with the unfiltered Torajiro.

We should only change genre convention names if the new one is more fun. Exploration Action instead of Metroidvania? Cool, adventurous, whimsical sounding. Aproved. STG instead of Shmup or DRPG instead of Dungeon Crawler? Boring, clinical, lame. Denied.

When you have an even harder time than expected trying to find two obscure old Japanese movies and then discover they are both categorized as Pink Films and it suddenly makes a lot more sense T^T

Every once in a while I think about exclusively playing C-tier games like Guardian's Crusade or Blaze & Blade I had but never finished as a child and finally beat them.

It's nothing special to find out that a BL actor was also a Kamen Rider, 99% of them did Tokusatsu, but it still tickles me that the actors of three of my favorite BL dramas happened to be together in the _same_ Kamen Rider as main riders (Build).

Tora-san's Lullaby (1974). I've just gotten used to Tatsuo Matsumura as the uncle and now we have yet a third actor taking over the role. That's really rare, usually everyone stays throughout the series, and indeed Masami Shimojō will keep the role until its end 20 years later.

The Sinking City fin. An interesting game about investigating a Lovecraftian infected city on foot, boat and diving suit, where everyone is kinda just "I guess that's the new normal" and goes on with their life. Combat's really annoying tho.

Hakononaka, the 3rd game in Fromsofts Adventure Player. Challenging you to find the verb in the 3-tiered submenu of dozens of options to successfully interact with the environment. No, you don't "Move" or "Flip over" the carpet to find the trap under it, you "Stab" with the fork to disable it obv!

Finished Oujisama Lv1 for the first time in 20 years. Still a fun and simple little crawler, with of course a lot of VN dialogue spliced in, since it is a BL game. Bonus points for having cute "guy-monsters" to catch-em-all, haha.

Tora-san's Lovesickness (1974) brins back Sayuri Yoshinaga as love interest Utako and is actually more about her problems than anything else this time around.

Death is such a fundamentally strange concept to grasp. To think that your time with everyone is limited and eventually you run out and there won't be anymore. Ever. Including yourself. Each moment you live is a moment less you have left before you stop existing forever.

"I hope you die" - Too short sighted, not enough suffering. "I hope your most anticipated JP only game gets a machine translation" - Terrifying, real fear, forever haunting someone.

Man, the third game on the Adventure Player, Hako no Naka, is really hard to penetrate. There's like a dozen menu options, some of which lead to another half dozen sub-options, just for some of them to hide a third layer of options. I yearn for having just like ten multi-purpose verbs please.

I was today years old when I found out Japan made a Cube remake... in 2021 no less. It's pretty Ok as long as it stays true to the simplistic mysterious original, but then has to add things which are all for the worse.

Tora-san Loves an Artist (1973) has a less well defined love interest compared to previous movie's Lily, but it's nice that for once she acknowledges Tora's feelings instead of being willfully obtuse to them.

Re-finished Resident Evil 4 Remake. Still very good. But that Krauser Ruins part is a pain in the ass. Honestly my only negative for both this and the OG is that I wish the island was shorter, it's when the game starts to drag for me.

World 2 done. Samurai's Iainuki Skill is all-enemy-targeting chance to instakill if they aren't heavy. Putting this on all 4 means 90% of random encounters die in round 1 and even extends to some none-heavy bosses like the Dragon Pod or the usually problematic Guardian Crystals #FF5FJF2026
