This week, we were out in support of @e11_unplugged who is standing as an independent in Leytonstone Ward. A teacher who specialises in Inclusion and SEND, Rhiannon Eglin has been a councillor since 2022. Like us, she wants to organise People’s Assemblies so that Leytonstone residents have a voice.
Another busy few days out across Chingford & Woodford Green. We were joined by our supporter Faiza Shaheen in sunny Churchfields, and by friends from Waltham Forest Community Coalition and Waltham Forest Greens in Larkswood & Valley today. Lots of interest from residents excited to vote for change.

International Women’s Day 2026 is calling for equal rights – and equal justice to enforce, exercise, and enjoy those rights. Thanks to all our members, supporters and candidates who work every day towards RIGHTS, JUSTICE, ACTION for ALL women and girls.
We've been out on Wynndale Road and Maybank this weekend chatting with residents. The #BroadmeadRoadBridge closure has affected daily life and many feel the council has just left residents to deal with it. A lot of interest in voting Independent and having their voices heard ✊
My friend Rosa Gomez - a hard working and popular councillor here in #Redbridge, London - has been barred as a councillor after the local authority stopped her carer from assisting her at council meetings. It’s blatant #disability #discrimination. #woodford www.facebook.com/share/p/1AkY...

Everyone here at CWG Community Independents hopes you’ve enjoyed getting to know the names and faces of the candidates we’re endorsing and supporting for the upcoming local elections on Thursday 7th May 🗳️ As a summary…
Help us create a new movement that will put people back at the centre of politics in Chingford & Woodford Green.
We aim to: Support community groups, residents, and young people to take action and elevate them. Hold monthly discussions to help foster understanding of the way the world works for some but not for others. Bring the community together to create solutions for the issues constituents face.
Despite the election of a Labour government after 14 years of failed Conservative policies, many people still feel unrepresented. The two-party system continually fails to address issues faced by local people and puts party before community.
Our local, independent candidate, Faiza Shaheen, ran a campaign rooted in community, harnessed the energy for change that exists here and laid the groundwork for a Chingford & Woodford Green that works for everyone.
During the 2024 General Election, we caught a glimpse of what people-powered, community politics can achieve.
We need local and vocal representative like Jill to call this failing council to account. Vote Indy on May 7th.
Churchfields deserves strong representation and Helen would be just that - let’s stop doing ‘politics as usual’ and vote Indy on 7th May.
Rita will make a great representative for the people of Churchfields. Vote Indy on May 7th!
