Received my first review on my book, The End of Time. Honestly, I’m quite thrilled 😁
It’s shocking that a game like Disco Elysium could be so well written, with almost no faltering in any part of its writing, that most games published after its release still haven’t caught up to the standards it has set.
The sequel to my debut, The End of Time, is proving to be difficult. I came up with the idea of setting the story on an alien world that resembles HR Giger’s biomechanical artwork back in 2017 and trying to capture that alienness is challenging.

I think the slow realisation I had about book publishing is the marketing side. That has been challenging to do because you’re trying to breach through the countless books out there to find the right people who would be interested in reading your story.

You know you did well when one of your friends reads your book and loves your villain so much that they put him on the same pedestal as Homelander.

I remember when I initially was going to publish my book through a hybrid. They were interested in it but took several months to get back to me. It was only when they tried to get me pay into their hybrid model and not the traditional one, considering they were offering both, that i turned it down.
I think one of the sad things about publishing in this environment is the countless books with obvious ai covers. A lot of time and money goes into trying to at least give your book a professional look but then it sits along side these low effort ai slop and they’re innumerable.
Reading this has been thoroughly enjoyable. It’s nice to read something from a new author instead of always sticking to the classics. Well done @jsholloway.bsky.social I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from you.
This book has been in the works a long time, and a lot of what I learned about writing and editing I learned from the immense privilege of getting to proofread it. As a creative, I wouldn't be where I am today without 'The End of Time'. Congratulations on this long-awaited release, Connor!

I will never understand the appeal to using Gen Ai for writing. The whole point in writing is to showcase how good you are at utilising language to evoke emotion and thought-provoking ideas. So having another tool do the thinking for you just showcases how untalented you are.
