"Oh, don't get all hopeful. I am just as sickened by your presence as before." She shakes her head. "But it wasn't you specifically, it's organics in general."
He laughed. “You don’t seem as averse to my presence either. You had dismissed me at first and now you’re a lot more open too.” He scratched his chin, a slightly curious look in his eyes. “Wonder what changed. Guess it’s all just water under the bridge now.”
"Well, that much seems true, at least. Much less the barbarian you were then. Ego is an organic failing." She crosses her arms.
Ryu chuckled at her resulting expression. “I’ve mellowed out some since our very first meeting, and I also think I’ve learned enough to understand you a little better, at least.” He shook his head, closing his eyes momentarily. “It was never a matter of malice or even ego from your end.”
"Yes, yes, truly it must be a highlight for you."
“Welcome back.”
"That's a simple question. I fight because someone pays me to do so. I spy, assassinate, destabilize, and blackmail for the same reason. That payment is then used to further my own goal, which I will not be revealing."
“No. Rather…it’s why you fight to begin with. You seem to serve human masters while being formerly human as well, perhaps? All the while, you carry such contempt.”
"And that's the payment taken care of. Pleasure doing business."
There's a story on the news. An entire delegation died in transit to france. One of the members apparently shot four of them fatally, and used butt of the gun to beat the fifth to death. The culprit appears to be one of the delegates, who was apprehended today. This delegate denied any wrongdoing.
