A few days ago was my 29th wedding anniversary to my amazing wife. How did i celebrate? I had a (successful) colonoscopy!
Ventoux is an amazing mountain to cycle. Beyond it's unique higher landscape, I think the thing that makes it feel special is how it stand high, alone in the local environment.

I have lived in France for two decades and for the 1st time a TdF stage will go through my home village and climb my home mountain - stage 15. But sadly, I will be in Canada for family reasons. So here are a few photos of fun people I have met watching stages over the years:
I played a lot of football/soccer as a kid. Loved it. But I couldn't pretend to be in severe pain any time when fouled .... so I couldn't play in these modern times.
Tomorrow is Bastille Day in France. Perhaps the biggest holiday of the year ... and France plays in the World Cup semi-final, and the Tour de France continues. Fireworks currently in my small French village. Vive la France.
1/ I missed today's TdF stage. But I hope they discussed the amazing climbs above the finish. If they kept cycling they would have reached 2 paved passes higher than Tourmalet. Col des Tentes @ 2207m & just beyond Col du Boucharo @ 2270m on Spanish border www.cycling-challenge.com/port-de-bouc...
Fairly bizarre. At the tail end of the hottest heat-wave in French history ..... a hail storm.
Will the Tour de France have “freshness breaks?” Race stops for three minutes every hour or so. Such a huge success in the World Cup …
My brother-in-law and his 2 sons are at the Canada Switzerland game. They are so excited. As good Canada fans, they are wearing red … like the entire stadium. Crazy that the Swiss get to wear red. :-). Go Canada, eh
This sign is (was?) on the far side of Col de la Croix for many years. #TdS The Swiss are lousy at math? :-)
The Tour de Suisse climbs the Col de la Croix five times today (2x for the ladies and 3x for the men). Here is a plaque placed near the top of the col. It appears the route was opened in 1971? #TdS
Today, the Tour de Suisse will climb Col de la Croix three times. Some version of Col de la Croix (Mountain Pass of the Cross) must be the most common name for mountain passes in Switzerland and France. I have cycled roughly 30 of them.
I once rode the incredible Maratona dles Dolomites cycling sportive. My wife loved the jersey and cap I received as they are perfect attire for attending LGBTQ Pride events. Happy LGBTQ Pride month everyone !
Passo Falzarego has markers counting the hairpins (always fun). On one of the sides, hairpin #14 is in a crazy tunnel. #giro
The Dolomites is an amazing place for road cycling. My only advice: If possible, skip July/August as the roads can get crowded --- and far too many motorcycle groups (a curse of popularity). Tip: June 20th there is a bike-only car-free day: www.dolomitesbikeday.it/en/
Bike event in the Dolomites - Dolomites Bike Day
Born in 2017, the Dolomites Bike Day is one of the largest events for road bikes in the Dolomites.

What is the correct way to pronounce Passo GIAU (in Italian)? The French announcers seem to say "Joe." I thought it was like "Jow" (rhyme with wow). #Giro
Tomorrow's Tour de Romandie stage climbs Jaunpass three times. It's a beautiful climb:
I made this silly cycling video 15 years ago : YES: I do sleep in a polka dot jersey/hat and cow socks :=) www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcVW... (best part of video is receiving a beer from my belgian domestique) :
