In this week's edition of The What If Journal, my thoughts on why what happened to Jane Doe has happened throughout time and how the power of story & collective, unified action (for men, that means more than saying "not all men") might make a difference. thewhatifjournal.substack.com/p/we-didnt-k...

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.
Looking forward to tomorrow, Sun 9/6 at Mountain Shire Books in Winter Park! If you'll be in Grand County, stop by, say hello, and grab a signed copy of This Isn't New: Women's Historical Stories. #BookSky #WritingCommunity #BookEvent #NewBook

Today's edition of The What If Journal talks about realistic lead time for getting a self/indie pubbed book into the world. Can you really do it in 3 months -- the same amount of time it takes a leopard to gestate her young? Read the post to find out! thewhatifjournal.substack.com/p/leopard-ge...

Lovely interview with creative writing student Cara White for local magazine Urban Life Wash Park. Cara interviewed me, particularly about This Isn't New: Women's Historical Stories, but I also interviewed her! I wish Cara much success in her writing career. urbanlifewashpark.com/meet-your-ne...

A well chosen table at Fiction Beer Company for This Isn’t New. Come on over, grab a cold one, and say hi! We won't let the bastards get us down.
Trump is reducing the size of two national monuments in Utah by 90% to open up the land for mining. He’s building a border wall through Big Bend park in Texas. And he’s gutted the NPS budget, throwing all our national parks into disrepair. Is there anything he won’t sell out?
Met a friend at a bookstore (with cafe) for snacks and a chat. Did I also buy a book? SUCH a silly question…
A little shoutout about my love of libraries and librarians in this week's edition of The What If Journal. Plus, links to upcoming events for This Isn't New, including one this Saturday 7/11 at Douglas County Libraries with author Andrea Bobotis. thewhatifjournal.substack.com/p/library-love

I was craving an Arnold Palmer, so I got iced tea bags and lemonade mix at the grocery store. but the only lemonade mix they had was lemon-blueberry, so the lemonade is blue. Mixed with the tea, here's my Arnold Palmer. I feel like I'm drinking from the reflecting pool. It does taste good, though!
I adore this account. My favorite thing on Bluesky.
