This. All day. Ghosting a freelancer rather than professionally and politely saying "your rates are not in my budget" and moving on is one thousand times better than disappearing. Ghosting leads to self-doubt and worry that I am pricing myself out of work. That feeling compounds over time.

Theoretically this is how it works in the real world, but in the CCG illustration niche the rate is pretty much established long before they contact the artists. OTOH, when non-gaming clients contact artists, this is generally how it goes... #artlife

Shoutout to everyone breaking down and packing up vendor booths at GenCon this afternoon. That is exhausting work after days of being up and engaged. 🫡
