I've discovered that I really enjoy prog metal bands (preferably on the heavier side). Growing up, I've never really thought about music in terms of subgenres - it all makes sense based on what I was exposed to through my father, going back to re-listen...

Not a surprise to anyone here, but if metal makes you too aggressive, you have a problem with aggression - it's not the metal. Metalheads are sweethearts through and through. Yes, there is a subgenre of metalhead who are hyper-masculine aggressive dipshits, but that's not the majority.
