I would say “Happy #Wednesday100” except this one is angsty and set during the 20 Year Separation. I was thinking about how Claire’s tradition of diner cheeseburgers with Bree might have started.

This account is mostly for my fandom ponderings and fic posting. Currently that means a lot of Outlander. I’m also dagnylilytable on AO3, which is where my Outlander stories live. https://archiveofourown.org/users/dagnylilytable/pseuds/dagnylilytable
If anyone needs me I will be an emotional wreck from rewatching 6.8 and realizing that when Jamie says the part of the Act of Contrition about “God, who art all good, and deserving of all my love,” he moves his hand from Claire’s shoulder to run it through her hair. Because she is sacred, too. 🥹😭
James Stewart and Cary Grant in The Philadelphia Story 1940, directed by George Cukor.
It’s Friday, she says. Do you really need to write that report?
I’ve been watching episode 1 a lot, and I can’t get over how much more romantic it is post finale. We meet Claire, our rare woman, and then we see how well she is loved now that we know exactly why Jamie’s ghost is there. It’s perfect narrative follow through and I gasp a little every time.
Happy #Wednesday100! Have some JamieClaire banter after the jealousy conversation and fade to black in 7.04.
Dolly Parton with Keith Haring in 1985, incredible woman and supporter of LGBTQ people for decades going back to a time when few others dared.
My partner is a travel nerd and mentioned today that the Burbank airport is named after Bob Hope. You can tell I’ve been watching The Wedding a lot for this Romcom/Prank War AU WIP because I almost said, “I always thought he was a funny man.” 😂🤷🏻♀️
Happy #Wednesday100! Today’s an AU featuring Jamie and Old Ian hanging out at Lallybroch. Claire and Bree are there too.
Happy #Wednesday100! Here’s a modern AU of Jamie and Claire playing Hide and Seek in someone’s enormous house. (I always picture modern LJG with one).
I’m having trouble picking just one Yeats poem for Jamie to quote about Claire in this modern AU romcom; clearly the solution is that he’s going to read several. Now I just have to decide which one is *first.*
Truly bananapants afternoon of work writing, so of course my fic brain also finally figured out a major plot question an hour ago. I can just opt out of parenting and dishes for a week, right?
Saturday night fic research projects while I’m deciding what book to read next: reminding myself when the measles vaccine was wide use. (Invented in Boston In the late 1950s, in wide use by 1963).
Very important update from today’s lunch break research for the modern JamieClaire AU: i was correct that there are various LEGO versions of historical Scotsmen (bagpipers, a Highlander with a shield, etc), so I can in fact write this chapter just how I hoped.
Happy #Wednesday100! Here’s Season 5 era Bree and Fergus, getting to know each other better by discussing their parents. Not where I imagined ending up when Bree started thinking about why J and C don’t play chess together, but I’m happy with the result!
Updates from the S4 note-taking cave: I had forgotten Roger tries to tell Bree not to be mad he lied because he knows she regrets her last argument with Frank. So manipulative. Writing an AU so Claire can learn about that (and his earlier sex shaming) and lose her shit remains tempting.
Watching bits of S4 for AU Research (I know, I’m very brave). It remains a testament to Sam as an actor that I can briefly forget about whatever is happening on his head with that wig when Jamie hugs Bree for the first time. 🤦🏻♀️😂🥹
Reminding you that it’s always about Jamie and Claire Fraser.❤️ #Outlander
Most of the way through Beach Read and I can’t stop saying to myself “this woman is not a realistic depiction of what writing romance is like because she has yet to panic about how many adverbs is too many when describing kissing.” 😂
Finally reading Emily Henry’s Beach Read, which is intensifying my desire to properly visit Lake Michigan one of these days.
Things I tell myself when my busiest season of day job writing makes it harder to find fic writing time: “Busy season always ends, Modern AU Jamie won’t stay a virgin forever.” 😂
Happy #Wednesday100! This started with an image of a modern AU Grannie Claire discovering Jamie’s flour handprints on her arse, but morphed into Fergus arriving in the aftermath of the baking project.
Browsing recent plays on my Spotify account and I can definitely tell what I listen to for getting into Jamie POV/dialogue vs. Claire. Jamie is Five for Fighting’s “Heaven Knows” and Claire is Sinéad O'Connor’s “No Man’s Woman” or Maddie Poppe’s “Wildflowers.”
Hot take from an afternoon of revisiting book canon for possible projects: DG really likes creating men who are drawn to younger women precisely because they hope said younger women will be malleable due to the age gap. Book Roger has this in common with Frank…and it is CREEPY.
For fic WIP reasons, l’ve been watching various scenes where Claire and Jamie discuss religion, and have concluded the only hilarious moment in the series finale is when J says he’s been to purgatory before. C’s face is so “I adore you and you cannot die but also you are RIDICULOUS.” 😂
Happy #Wednesday100! Here’s Jamie being a Grandda and a Wifeguy at the same time. (Prior Drabble with this title was Bree POV). And a housekeeping note: I’m planning on continuing these at least until the New Year. It helps keep me in writing shape when a multichapter WIP is going slowly.
She is not a very good assistant if you actually need to use your laptop. (Her tail is on my keyboard).
Lunch break rewatch thoughts: At the end of S1, Claire is wearing a green cloak when they leave for France. In S8, she wears a green jacket a lot, including at the creek before the finale love scene. When they say goodbye before the battle, her jacket is blue: the color of healing.
I generally think writing fanfic should not feel like homework, but today I am making an exception looking up Yeats love poems for modern AU Jamie to read to Claire. 🥹
Writing cave update: so far the fun of this modern prank war AU is not only the pranks but also writing Claire gradually realizing “oh, this man is GONE for me isn’t he,” and still clinging a little bit to the Highly Mistaken Impression she is Built Different and less gone. 😂
