A big reason NewstalkZB exists is so a certain subset of people can go into work and say "it's not that bad, people are just complaining too much".
Shouldn't that be "right-wing" Free Speech Union? Same writer, same paper, but only the tax group gets called out as "left-wing" huh? (And if your response is everyone knows the FSU is right-wing: a) they do not, and b) some people think the Nazis were socialist because of their name.)

I mean, they're not a problem if your intention is to suppress the left's vote, which is definitely the government's intention, and Mike's.

New Zealand journalists in 2082, as the seas have swallowed the land and we're living in a Waterworld-style society: Christopher Luxon is actually really great in person, the voters just need to get to know him.
This same article has been written countless times, with the same framing. Never once has it contained a scintilla of evidence for an actual lab leak. This has to be one of the longest running cons in mainstream media at this point, right up there with Donald Trump being a "businessman".

To the person at Stuff who has to take a story and, no matter how serious, turn it into a poll with 5 glib, borderline-offensive options: I know at most you're getting minimum wage, it cannot be worth it.
No one was asking for anyone to defend Winston Peters' racist comments, but NZME's Ryan Bridge decided to take up the mantle anyway. (The thing he insists Winston was right about? "We're lucky to live here and not China.")
I'm not qualified to judge whether such people are psychopaths. All I can say is that they behave as if they are. From today's Telegraph.

The most predictable progression in the world... Tip to reporters who don't want to look like absolute tools: don't report on what Musk *says* as if it means anything at all.
What a bizarre way to report this. Winston is pretty blatantly racist towards a Chinese Green MP, and his excuse is he talks too much, so Stuff... just fact-checks that part? And just ends the story there, like they're tacitly agreeing with Winston?

Media's biggest voice Mike Hosking, who believes the media is biased towards Labour the the Greens, thinks the reason Luxon ruled out working with the Opportunity Party is because they're too left-wing, rather than an attempt to shore up National's vote, which happens every election year.
This genuinely might be the first time I've seen a paper call out the FSU like this. More please!

People think you need to study to become a journalist but in fact all they do is present you with this framing and if you can't see a problem with it, you're hired.

The only way for the media to be neutral is for them to run every single person in the country’s opinion. It’ll take awhile but if they don’t I can only assume it’s because they actually have an agenda.
