There comes a day when a man finally shows Monty Python and the Holy Grail to his children, after years of MPHG and Spamalot references. That day, dear reader, is today. Let's see how long they last. And if I can get them to stop talking over the movie.

It is far last my bedtime, and I am such a nerd for caring, but this Michigan Senate primary is fascinating
One of the (many) ways I know my wife loves me is that every other Monday night, she says something to the effect of, "I'm going to go read my book. You go watch your @gamechanger.dropout.tv."
I’ve read hundreds of leadership and theology books and listened to as many podcasts and lectures, but I’ve never once come across a treatise on how to discern *how much* ambition to have. This feels key to finding the intersection between growth and peace.
Taking my passport to TGI Fridays because they won’t let me get the fajitas without a Real ID.
Scalise: "For God's sake -- you can't get pasta at Olive Garden without a picture ID! Why not be able to show a picture ID to vote?"

FDA walks back claim that Taco Bell lettuce supplier Taylor Farms was source of ‘explosive diarrhea’ parasite
“FDA laboratory experts re-reviewed the sample results and have concluded that the finding does not represent true amplification and should be considered a false positive.”

I don’t watch a lot of soccer, and now I’m glad my kids don’t watch a lot of soccer, because they already flop a lot when fighting with one another and I don’t need them to learn to get better at it
I found the set list for the Sunday night in 2003 when I saw Gavin Degraw and Maroon 5 play a 250-capacity club in Birmingham, AL, and it is bring back all of the feelings
Last night at the beach which means tonight's dinner menu is "Whatever's Left"
When are people going to realize that Dave Portnoy is not judging the best pizza ever, but rather the “Pizza Dave Portnoy Likes For Some Reason”?”

Ok, Canada. You are amazing. And beautiful. Also it takes ten hours to go anywhere.
The best political parallel is the implosion of John Edwards.
When the rubble clears, there are so many people who spent time and money helping Platner, believing that he was a once in a lifetime talent. People who quit their jobs to work for him; spent cold weekends knocking doors for him; told their friends to check him out. He really humiliated them.
Thus: keep an eye out for how folks invoke Scripture in public. It's often about more than the text itself — i.e., there's a lot of history and scholarship informing their approach to the Bible, even if public officials (or, heck, most folks) aren't aware of it. These are, after all, communities.
Those presuppositions/hermeneutics often get glossed over in the public eye, with the Bible simply presented as blank slate over which Christians debate. That CAN be the case, but the reality is often far more interesting: i.e., different communities are rooted in different foundational approaches.
Last thing here: reporting on this reminded me that there are presuppositions/hermeneutics modern evangelicals often bring to biblical interpretation that CAN be distinct from Black Protestants, mainliners and Catholics. The result is interpretations that, often, can trend in different directions.
A debate over Matthew 25 has been brewing in Congress over the last year. It’s pitting mainline pastors, Black protestants and the pope against evangelical politicians put on the defensive amid outspoken religious criticisms of President Donald Trump’s policies. religionnews.com/2026/07/01/i...
