Interesting bit of social engineering for you: the electronic menu is out at the local burger joint. I’ve been watching groups come in, stare at the blank sign, look at each other, hopelessly lost on what to order. Not a single person has pulled out their phone to use the app or website to order.
There’s a lot of talk about how people are reading less books. I just don’t believe that. I think people are being much more selective about what they’re reading. Maybe sales are showing ‘experts’ that less impulse buying looks like less overall sales. I don’t know. #booktalk
I feel like people are posting pictures of their food as a form of protest now. ‘Here’s my plate piled high with lettuce! Deal with it, losers!’ Feels like Covid all over again.
I didn’t sit at this damn desk for a decade and bleed over the page to be potentially outsold by some schmuck who generated a fake Stephen King novel. What are we even doing anymore?

I’m a little over 12k words into the first draft of my first novel. I’ve never written anything like this before. The stuff you don’t plan on, that just comes out on its own, is what should hold onto. I’m trying to do that with this idea. #amwriting
Saw it three times in the theater. It’s impossible to convey to younger generations just how much of a breakthrough this movie was. We felt like we were watching real dinosaurs.
Sasquatch@nerdysasquatch.bsky.social · 2w agoThe original Jurassic Park still holds up. The story is timeless, the characters are very likable, well acted, and charming, and even the technology looks good 30 years later. It is one the quintessential 90s movies that will always be loved.
Robocop (1987) when I was twelve. It was by accident. I had read some of the comics first, so I wanted to see the movie. My parents didn’t know what it was, so they just said yes, because the title sounded like the other sci-fi stuff I was into. They realized quickly that they’d made a mistake.

I finally asked my mom (I couldn't remember), and she told me it was The Lost Boys when I was roughly the same age as my daughter (about 9). The movie traumatized her more than it did me, apparently
