Not afraid to take the path of maximum resistance. Too loud. Habitually overdressed. More responsible than you think.
I am in an Erberts and Gerberts in the suburbs and the Pixies are playing on the muzak.
Some of my favorite lyrics of late are from First Aid Kit's Emmylou: I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too No, I'm not asking much of you I do feel, however, that asking someone to be your Johnny or Gram is asking for a lot.
A friend is having a baby so I got her some of favorite baby books. These topics are all of great interest to infants.
This feels oddly timely, but last night I was searching online for "classics and engineering double major scholarship" thinking that pool of potential applicants would be so tiny my kid has a good chance of getting one. It exists. It is the Anthony Fauci Classics + STEM Scholarship.
My yard is covered in tarps to kill all the stuff growing. The upside is that when it rains it sounds like camping.
This villager headline made me think at first glance the alley was going to get some r and r for bit. Wrong.
This is cool and interesting and will lead to more guacamole.
Some avocados are female in the morning and male in the afternoon, while others are on the opposite schedule. This helps them avoid self-pollination. How do they do it? A @ucdavis.bsky.social study explains. www.ucdavis.edu/food/news/st...
I mean, the last juicy weenie scandal we had involving a St Paul mayor was when Mayor Norm Coleman's 80 yo dad got arrested for having sex in the Red Savoy parking lot. We were overdue. www.upi.com/Top_News/200...

In more wholesome St Paul Weenie News, last Sunday my church had hot dogs afterwards in honor of the parable of the mustard seed. The communion bread was hot dog buns. When the pastor was doing the bit of magic that turns buns into Jesus, he held the buns up & got the giggles & couldn't stop.
A driver in a red pickup yelled at me to get a car & then threw something at me (that hasn't happened in a long time). All these dudes were sitting on the porch of a house at the intersection & they got up and pelted the truck with empty beer cans. As it should be.
The 14 yo discovered that postal shipping stickers are free to order and, having lots of white space, are great for making his own stickers. He just got 700 - the max order.
Danneckers - the store with the strangest business model that relies solely on local alcoholics because no one else would know this place was a functioning business (sort of). And, the sad thing is they could be one of two surviving grocery stores that sell alcohol.
Rime of the Ancient Mariner FTW! The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock - romcom delight! The Raven - Halloween shocker!
Studio execs are going to want to adapt more poems for the big screen now
Overhead at Macy's at MOA: "I am done being in this place." Girl. I see you. I feel you.
I got new glasses today. The doctor asked what daily living tasks I struggled with due to my eyesight. I replied threading needles. She said we can help with that so now I have trifocals.
I won the Best Hat Contest at Farmer Days in Jesup, IA. All the other contestants were children, but the judges gave me the medal anyway. Suck it, brats.
Okay, my QUESTION OF THE DAY is… What is your weirdest actual accomplishment? Not the biggest necessarily…but the weirdest?

It's a hard day. I just spent four hours day drinking in a floatie, listening to top 40 country. Now a nap. Then more floatie and Tim McGraw.
My elder son and I went for an after dark swim and it was lovely. Calm. Quiet. Lots of fireflies along the shore. Being with my little guy who is no longer little.
Current POV. Day drunk on a floatie was a medicine I needed.
As an ex-smoker I have been training for this for years! All those bike camping tour with 80 miles days, smoking while biking up a miles long incline, have prepared me for today!

Two years ago I did a solo road trip in rural Sweden. I didn't get an e sim card so I just used a paper map and relied on directional signs when the roads I needed were too small to be on the map. I made it to the small town my great grandfather was from (my morfarfar in Swedish).
Can’t lie, the fact that y’all were driving with PAPER maps is insane. Even worse, you had to ask random strangers for directions??
My Total Eclipse of the Heart Story: In the early '00s my sister had a black pug & it was their song. She would sing it to the dog & the dog would howl along. I was living at 33rd & Lyndale. One night my sister, a few friends, & I went drinking along Lyndale - Mortimers, French Meadow, 1
