We mourn the death of John Dvorak. In Jan'09 he wrote a critique of spreadsheets for VisiCalc's 30th anniversary. I responded with a blog post: danbricklin.com/log/2008_11_... "He is a real gentleman in person and is very thoughtful...he also knows his craft, which is to entertain his audience."

I just learned sad news that Vern Raburn, a pioneer in the early days of personal computing, died last month. He was instrumental in first getting Microsoft into apps. I worked with him at Slate, an early pen-computer S/W company. He was also a pioneer in aviation. May his memory be a blessing.

Very sorry to hear about the death of Aldus founder Paul Brainerd, the giant who gave us PageMaker and the desktop publishing revolution that followed. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, I used PageMaker to put together my animation fanzine, which led directly to my career in tech journalism. RIP.

Apple announced today it's adding spatial pen input to #VisionPro. The API supports the Logitech Muse pen (coming later this year). See this developer video of a 3D sculpting app with fine control: developer.apple.com/videos/play/... . It has position, buttons, and haptics (Yay!).

I get goosebumps watching people see the late Bill Atkinson first demo his MacPaint creation 40+ years ago to the public and answer questions. Today, you couldn't imagine it being new. In hindsight, that was an historic moment. Now, sadly, he's gone. Watch it and imagine how it must have felt.
