I was pleased to meet with Rob, co-founder of Love Jasmine, and Clare, who has benefited from the charity's support. We spoke about the challenges facing charities like Love Jasmine and the need for sustainable funding to help them continue their vital work.

This week I spoke with adoptive parents and kinship carers in Parliament to hear their views on the Government’s proposals to reform adoption and kinship support. I’ll continue to advocate for all adoptive and kinship families living in Liverpool Walton.
Thanks to everyone who came along to my latest constituency surgery at Ellergreen Community Centre. A wide range of issues raised, and plenty for me and my team to take forward on behalf of constituents.
I was pleased to attend this year's National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast with my constituent Rev. Mike Hindley. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on public service, faith and the common good.
Orrell Park Community Centre needs funding to stay open. Today I met with its volunteers and staff to see what can be done. Public and community spaces such as this are the fabric of a healthy society. See less
It was a pleasure to join constituents and campaigners at Mencap's 80th Anniversary in Parliament. An incredible milestone for a charity that does vital work supporting people with a learning disability and their families.
It was a pleasure to visit Northern Lights Parkinson’s Support Group in their new hub at Fazakerley Community Centre. Thank you for the warm welcome and for all you do to support people living with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.
Thanks to Fazakerley Community Federation for hosting my advice surgery over the weekend. Always great to hear from constituents and take up their concerns. Milo enjoyed it too! 🐶
A growing body of evidence is making the case for action on rent affordability in the private rented sector. Three important reports published in recent weeks deserve serious attention. 🧵⬇️ :
With the appointment of Ann-Marie as Chair, Norris Green #PrideInPlace is off to a fantastic start. I look forward to supporting Ann-Marie and the wider community to ensure this investment is led by, and delivers real benefits for, the people of Norris Green. liverpoolexpress.co.uk/chair-of-nor...

At today's Foreign Affairs Committee session with Sir Oliver Robbins, I asked him what would have happened if Peter Mandelson's clearance had been denied.
The broken rental market must be brought under control. In parts of my constituency, homes are being turned into HMO bedsits at an alarming rate, so landlords can charge even more rip-off rents. I called on Government to look again at the evidence on rent controls.
Could you help steer a £20m community-led initiative in Norris Green? Just a few days left to apply: jobs.liverpool.gov.uk/jobs/job/Ind... #PrideInPlace
Today I was out around County Road asking residents to share their views on rent affordability in our area. Thanks to those who have already completed my survey. Your experiences will help me to fight for real change for Walton’s residents.
AI is profoundly transforming the world of work, but is our politics fit to meet the challenge?
Nearly 1 million young people are not in education, employment or training. We cannot accept that as the new normal. In Parliament, I asked how the Government will measure the success of its plans to tackle this – and how our systems must adapt as AI transforms the world of work.
Renters’ rights shouldn’t come with a price tag. Today I challenged the Government over reports renters could face fees to contest unfair rent rises. This would deter those who need help the most and allow rogue landlords to evade accountability.
Our security at sea depends on the strength of British shipbuilding. I asked the Minister what steps are being taken to ensure consistent contracts, so the industry can retain the skills and workforce it needs.
Government support for getting young people into work is absolutely necessary in today's labour market. With global economic uncertainty and AI threatening employment opportunities, interventions like these are what a Labour Government is for.

Endless rent rises are pushing people to the brink, and fuelling more homes being bought up by investors. Housing is for homes, not for someone else’s asset or second income. It’s time for solutions that permanently lower rents. #RentControls
Norris Green East has secured £20m in new #PrideInPlace funding. We're looking for an independent Chair of a Community Board of local residents that will collectively decide how this new funding is spent. See below for more info and apply today! ⬇️
Private rents are most extortionate in working-class communities like Liverpool Walton. As the affordability crisis deepens, I called on the Government to bring in and pilot bold action to control rents.
Chaos in the Civil Service Pension Scheme under Capita is causing distress and hardship to my constituents, people who have worked and paid into their pensions all their lives. I spoke in today's debate to ask what sanctions will be put in place to hold Capita to account.
Since I raised this last week, I welcome reports that the Government will proscribe Iran’s IRGC, which has killed thousands of innocent Iranians. The Government should announce a timetable for bringing the necessary legislation to Parliament in the next few weeks – no delays.
The Labour Government is capping ground rents at £250 a year. Positive news for leaseholders who have been squeezed for far too long.
Norris Green East is getting £20m in funding as part of the Government's #PrideInPlace initiative. And local residents will decide how it is spent. Keep an eye out for more information about how you can get involved.
Unfair rent hikes continue to pile pressure on struggling tenants. I welcome that the Government has taken action with the Renters Rights Act. But ministers must be prepared to go further if the affordability crisis continues.
Wishing you a merry Christmas and a peaceful new year! 🎄 ✨
Great fun at the Walton LifeRooms Christmas party! I took the opportunity to thank the team for their vital work supporting Liverpool Walton constituents all year round.
Schools in my constituency are doing fantastic work, but funding constraints mean that they are under increasing pressure. I asked the Government to ensure that schools in the most disadvantaged areas have enough resources to meet the level of need.
