I treasure this dismissal by an academic of my book about prison privatisation, based on being the official who did it: "Mr LeVay may well have a great deal of otherwise unavailable firsthand information on the subject but he entirely lacks a theoretical framework". Keep the peasants off the lawn!

There is a style of writing that uses copious references to real world facts or historical figures to add Authenticity and Truth to otherwise generic writing. What irritates me is how well this works for most readers.

Yeah! I I used this built-in edge detection shader for A Short Hike: docs.unity3d.com/530/Document... If you want to peek at the code for it, you can download the shader from this forum post: discussions.unity.com/t/image-effe... I used it SobelDepth mode - see the "fragDCheap" HLSL function.

idk I think that if you *say* that games discourse keeps repeating itself and forgetting the past, but you don’t bother citing all the people who’ve covered the same topic before, you’re part of the problem too

That image at the top is the first picture I ever drew using a pressure sensitive tablet back in the mid '90s. I was convinced I would never have a job in games again due to the death of pixel art. Yet somehow here we are 30 years later.
