It's Lincoln's 1940s event this weekend. I think about the Second World War pretty much every day, and Mrs E is working so I'm staying home eating tinned snook and powdered egg with the lights off. Anyway, here's an aerial photo of Lincoln in July 1944. North is towards the bottom of the picture.

The centre of the city is to the left of the photograph, showing residential areas. I saw the Musical 'Operation Mincemeat' last night; one of the songs is about writing a fake love letter. This genuine letter in the IBCC Digital Archive has just been transcribed. Robert Greer flew operations as a pilot with 178 Squadron and was killed 22 March 1945. #History #WW2
