Whoot! Acceptance day! My paper on coalition politics & how Gamson does/don't work in opposition. Forthcoming in Parliamentary Affairs. R2 compared my work to "a wild kangaroo".... I'll be adding that reference to the paper... Thanks @thiagonsilva.bsky.social for support & advice.

OMG trying Claude for the first time (just the free tier)..... SO much better than some other LLMs out there. Thanks to Alessandro Spina at UTS for introducing me to it.
The more I think about this, the more annoyed I am. It isn’t the peer reviewer’s job to check references. The journal / publisher should be doing this. It isn’t hard, and the failure to check really reflects poorly on the journal as much as the author.
Quickest peer review ever. Done in 15 min. Found a fake reference. Went hunting, found one more. Straight reject. Advised the editor they should write to the author's head of school.

How are MPs selling/defending/attacking the budget? In #canberrainbox we see the word "promises" has become quite partisan.... Number of e-newsletters that mention the word "promises" by party over the last few weeks. #auspol canberrainbox.com.au
Every time I listen to Rabbi Jonathan Sacks (ז״ל) I am blown away by his scholarship, his wisdom, his depth, and his ability to connect to today. I walk away enlivened and proud. Today I was listening to this lectures, as I prepare my cheder class for next weekend. rabbisacks.org/covenant-con...

Pride march in Brussels will only let Jewish people take part once they don't identify as Jewish. This is the reality in Europe in 2026.
Really tough evidence this morning. A gay catholic man who converted to Judaism talking about the high levels of support he got coming out as gay, then the hatred he got from the same group when he converted to Judaism.
Another important day of evidence at the Royal Commission on Antisemitism #auspol www.abc.net.au/listen/progr...

The Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion has today heard from students about antisemitism in schools.

Listening to first hand accounts of antisemitism at the Royal Commission. Really difficult. Really important.
Some of my US political scientist colleagues have previously posted the astronaut meme ("always has been") in reference to institutions not being self-reenforcing. What article/book were you guys referring to there?
Nothing to see here. "A collaborative Jewish-Greek choral concert to raise money for Bondi Beach massacre victims’ families has been cancelled due to vehement political opposition by some choir members to Jewish participation in the event."
Ou paper is now the 3rd most read in @jeppjournal.bsky.social! How do leaders talk about a crisis 'over there'? Was it relevant to them? Or could it be ignored? Important lessons when thinking about cultural lessons. (Also great to see an Aus paper doing well in European journals) lnkd.in/gZxn95HE

Who would have thought that Rav Kook would have been relevant to both @parlcharlie.bsky.social and @clothedvillainy.bsky.social - “just as there are laws of poetry, there is poetry in the Law.” Have you ever tried to include iambic pentameter in legislative drafting?
When I’m bored I come onto BlueSky to read who @clothedvillainy.bsky.social is dunking on today. Then I need to work out who on earth he is subtweeting about
A bunch of smooth-brained centrists are dunking on people over the price of beef. ‘You complain about the price of beef and yet you beef with me? I am very smart.’ This is why I pay zero cents a day to read BlueSky.

University of Canberra’s new advertising posters say “discover there are no deadlines in life”. As a lecturer, does that mean I can’t impose deadlines on any assessment?? (I mean, it often seems we can’t decline extension requests….)
Here's how focus on "Iran" has looked in the US for that time span.
Just updated CanberraInbox. Who is talking about "Iran"? First graph just this year. Second goes back to 2024. It is mainly the Libs/Nats. Labor largely ignoring it? ping @dcinbox.bsky.social enewsletters.shinyapps.io/canberrainbox/

An excellent analysis, not just of Remeikis’ book, but implicitly on the state of much #auspol political commentary.

Reading @jonchu.bsky.social's fascinating book - 'Social Cues: How the Liberal Community Legitimizes Humanitarian War' & came to one of his surveys of n=12,233! Amazing! How did he get such a large sample! Must have been expensive! No - it was a technical error! Best type of error!
