Christ almighty what a final stage, and what a win for MVDP, which wouldn’t have been possible without that collaboration from Pogacar. Two absolute greats. #TDF2026

FFS Albion, Townsend? Really? When we signed him the first time round he was an easily affordable prospect, and that’s the kind we should be looking at again, not bringing back a crocked 33 year old who’s barely played since we offloaded him. Better hope Styles is ever present again this season!
I respect the fight Argentina show but they do lack class. I’m more disappointed by how they played though. No ambition until they fell behind, no quality. Spain are bloody hard to play against but give them a game, it’s a World Cup final FFS.
Utter bollocks. Fresh pace and energy - an abundance of which was sat on the bench - would have at least given England plenty of threat via counter attacks. And if keeping possession is so important, why TT did you not even select TAA, Wharton, MGW? Pure dishonesty from Tuchel.
🗣️ 🇩🇪🏴🦁🦁🦁⚽️🏆Tuchel Defends Tactics Thomas Tuchel insists England’s World Cup exit wasn’t down to his tactics, blaming the players’ inability to keep possession. He said: “No structure in the world could have helped us,” arguing England lacked the “DNA” to control the game against Argentina.
So much for appointing the tactical genius who was all we needed to become tournament winners. Tuchel went full on Southgate. You’ll never be champions if you don’t play like champions. Argentina did, England didn’t. So disappointing to lose in that manner.
All that stands between England and World Cup glory are two teams who couldn’t beat Cape Verde over 90 minutes. It’s coming home. 😂
Get in there. Performance iffy but they found a way. Well done England
This is France’s World Cup to lose. I’m not sure who can stop them. Spain in the semi, maybe - but the pace and quality in the French attack is ridiculous.
It’s like Mbappe and Messi see it as unsporting to score penalties in their race for the golden boot.
With no VAR, you quite possibly get the same result, but all we remember is a great game of football with barely any controversy. The answer to this issue is obvious. Full abolition, now.
Proper champions. Fair play. The officials deserve a lot of scrutiny but you can’t deny Argentina’s mental strength. It’s better for the tournament that they stay in it. No doubt FIFA think that too…
What a game. It’s controversial but bloody brilliant to watch
Worst game I’ve ever seen Messi have and he still scores and assists 😂
Messi having an off day, looks his age today. Not one of the rest of the Argies is stepping up in his place.
If Argentina lose this, I expect England to reach the final. Not a given obviously, but we’ll be favourites out of the contenders on this side of the draw. This terrifies me.
The Messi penalty issue is weird, the man can whip a free kick in the top corner from much further out at will, so why not just whip it the same way and give the keeper no chance from 12 yards?
Portugal might win this if they haul off the old fart up front. Spain not really at it so far.
Caught up with the England game this morning. No looking at the result so what a bloody rollercoaster that was. Proud of England because they had to handle both the fantastic atmosphere (chapeau Mexico) and some poor officiating. The defending in the final 20 mins was superb.
I’m off to the French alps on holiday tomorrow. Looks like it’ll be a fairly wet and stormy week. I can’t wait for it, because that’ll be far nicer than this disgusting heatwave we’re having here. The colder months can’t come back soon enough.
Brilliant Ecuador 🇪🇨 One of those games that reminds you why the World Cup is so great.
That’s not a bad point in terms of getting to the next stage as group winners. Professional job against Panama and we’re there. Ghana defended excellently, credit it to them, England didn’t do enough to break them down but should have won it at the end.
