Game Dev Hobbyist, currently working on my first, full-length game

I made this decision a while ago but I realized that I haven't stated it publicly. The intention for my current project is to release a short standalone snapshot of sorts to convey all of the game's mechanics and vibes and use that as a jumping off point for the full game.

Been going down a rabbit hole of looking up everything about the Myst Series and then I remembered that I have a 1997 original copy of Riven with near mint-condition CDs.

I've been thinking about all of the various game projects and prototypes I've worked on over the years and that I should probably show them off instead of hoarding them like a dragon even if I'm not completely confident in them, so I might do that sometime.

Working in Godot makes me realize how much I took for granted when working in Unity. Basic stuff like console logging or asynchronous scene loading came pretty standard in Unity for a long time but Godot makes you build that stuff from scratch. #godot #gamedev

literally everything creative I’ve learned was from youtube, from character design to animation to blender to writing to editing if you have the patience to learn something you can literally just learn it, the barrier to entry is non-existent

I'm at that point in my project where I'm doing everything BUT buckling down and finishing it. While I DO have stuff that I've been working on and look forward to showing off, I'm not confident in said stuff yet and need more time for polish.

Here's the results so far of my Character Design experiment. Still need to get her in-engine and make the shaders, but I'm really happy with how she turned out. Not bad for my first OC, I'd say.

Godot is great and all don't get me wrong but I really need its C# Documentation updated because it took me way too long to figure out the C# names of several Node methods.

Been working on character design as a side project, separate from my main one. Figured I've never really done much character design in my life so it's been a fun little adventure in exploring techniques.

It's a simple thing, But I'm gonna feel like a million bucks when I get to put "no generative AI was used in the development of this game" on my credits roll.

Finally got around to implementing two features. The first one is a new "Dialogue Station" that functions similarly to Puzzle Stations but gives brief descriptions of Environmental details. It's not a whole lot, but I'm particularly proud of the look and feel of it. #gamedev

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. Been busy with irl stuff alongside trying to get my ducks in a row with this project. Should have something to show in like a few more weeks perhaps, if not sooner.
