Ari Emanuel, the head of U.F.C.’s parent company, called the combat sport’s White House event “a roaring success.” It lost $30 million. (Variety) As much a success as the Trump admin. That is to say, an abysmal failure. VOTE BLUE
Trump's war on Iran - not only has it caused needless death and destruction but it has used up much of the US stockpile of both defensive and offensive missiles. In a world with real potential adversaries, this weakens the USA against our real enemies. Trump finds many ways to hurt the USA.
We are living through an Orbanesque period in our government. The GOP is using every "legal" method possible to hold onto power. We must channel Hungary and turn out en mass to VOTE BLUE at the midterms. Our democracy depends on this.
There is some contention over the Democrats’ 2024 Autopsy Report and whether a chapter was left out. No doubt, this contributes to the sense a generational change of leadership is overdue. Regardless, VOTE BLUE at the midterms because to allow this to discourage your vote would be fatal.
House Panel Finds Lawmaker Likely Violated Rules on Sexual Harassment The Ethics Committee called for the censure of Representative Chuck Edwards, Republican of North Carolina, who showered two female staffers with lavish gifts and affection. What? A Republican? I'm gobsmacked.
Trump sours on Pirro over Reflecting Pool case, won’t say her job is safe [CNBC] Because protecting her law license should take the back seat to doing Trump's bidding. How the GOP can continue to tolerate Trump's imperious style remains a mystery to me.
The GOP and Trump have structured these evil changes to kick in only after the midterms. We know why.
Gerrymandering lets politicians choose their voters instead of the other way around. Until we end that, it will remain difficult to achieve the things most Americans already agree on.

Let's hope this story about MAGA starting to decline is accurate and a lasting trend.
Anthropic says its Claude models ‘gained unauthorized access’ to other organizations’ systems This is just the beginning if governments don't put regulations, restrictions, and limitations in place. Tech cannot be trusted to do so on its own.
Trump considering withdrawing Blanche firmly demonstrated he wants to use the retribution account. No surprise.
As if we needed more evidence that Trump, DOGE, and RFK Jr have enfeebled the FDA and good safety programs, the rampant cyclosporiasis outbreak serves as a scary reminder. The parasite doesn’t care which party you vote for.
Read or listen - this piece by NPR's Tamara Keith about how the Dems can get traction with the working class is incredibly insightful and important. www.npr.org/2026/07/29/n...

Reminds me of the early days of SNL when they had a recurring skit about Francisco Franco still being dead.

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to let it enforce President Donald Trump’s mail-in voting restrictions while a legal challenge proceeds. [CNBC] SCOTUS, managed by right wing billionaires, may very well allow this travesty to go forward.
USDOT recommendations include eliminating the Highway Trust Fund's Mass Transit Account. Duffy and Trump are trying to return to traffic choked, smog filled cities.
Many Republicans with aging parents who receive caregiving, at home or in facilities, will discover the folly of Trump ending TPS when Mom or Dad no long has someone to care for them.
“I hope all of you know that I believe in the free press more than anyone in this room does — maybe not quite. That’s why I’m proud to be the most open and transparent president in history,” Trump said. And oddly, he wasn't lying. He is the most openly corrupt President in history.
Federal officials said in court documents that they halted billions of dollars in funding for energy projects to states “based solely” on whether they backed President Trump in the 2024 election. [NYT] How sad that the USA has devolved to this level of vitriol and vindictiveness.
