Labour MP for Uxbridge & South Ruislip. Worked in healthcare, grew up homeless & working to make a difference 🌹

Fly-tipping is one of the issues I hear about most from residents across Uxbridge and South Ruislip. Today the Government has announced tougher new measures and I am really glad to see this action being taken. I’ll continue to push for a clearer and safer Hillingdon.

Today is GCSE results and it is a big moment for so many young people across Uxbridge and South Ruislip. This is an important milestone and whatever your results, there is always a path forward - sixth form, college, apprenticeships! Be proud of everything you have worked for 🎉

West London Racing Centre is at risk of closing. I visited the grounds and wrote a letter in support of the centre - a facility that has been serving young people in our community for over 30 years. Hillingdon Council must act and secure a long-term lease before it is too late.

Really great to visit Brunel Medical School's Summer School - an immersive medical education programme for Year 12 students from underrepresented backgrounds across England. Breaking down barriers to medicine is one of the most important things we can do for the future of the NHS.

To all the students in Uxbridge and South Ruislip picking up their A Level results today - you should be proud of all the hard work you have put in to get here. Whatever comes next, today is just the beginning. And to those heading into their second year - good luck with the year ahead! 🎉

Over the recess period, I have been holding surgeries across Uxbridge and South Ruislip! This is a chance for residents to come and speak with me face to face about any issues affecting them. Constituents have been raising everything from anti-social behaviour and housing to fly-tipping.

I visited Harvil Farm in Ickenham after a local farmer flagged issues with HS2 farm reinstatement works. Seeds are being planted incorrectly and weeds being spread into nearby fields, streets and houses. I will be raising this with HS2 and will keep residents updated.

A consultation on Heathrow expansion is running over the summer with no community engagement plan. Along with the No 3rd Runway Coalition, I have written to the Department for Transport urging them to extend the consultation and hold accessible events for communities.

The Government has announced a £343 million plan to open 159 new NHS mental health centres! 🧠💚 Hillingdon will benefit from a new community mental health centre! I have been pushing for better mental health provision locally and I am glad to see this investment coming to our community.

What an incredible weekend at the @Sikh Games! Seeing the range of sports on display and the talent across the Sikh community was extraordinary. A great celebration of sport and community - congratulations to everyone who took part and to the organisers for putting on such a fantastic event!

Amazing news - Great British Energy has funded the installation of new solar arrays at Hillingdon Ambulance Station and The Hillingdon Hospital. This means lower energy bills, reduced carbon emissions and crucially, savings that go straight back into frontline services for residents.

I am pleased to share that Uxbridge and South Ruislip is set to benefit from over £5.3 million in investment as part of the Government's reforms to children's social care. These are all designed to bring new support and capacity to the fostering system across our region.

If you live near the South Ruislip Vent Shaft site on Victoria Road, here is an important update from HS2 on upcoming works and overnight schedules. Please do get in touch if you have any concerns or these works are disrupting you and your family.

The Government is cutting business rates by 20% from April next year, saving the typical pub an estimated £1,100. Our local venues are at the heart of our community and this is a positive step in supporting them. Where is your favourite local?

Another busy month across the constituency - employment, community support, children's wellbeing and tackling poverty have all been on the agenda! Here is a snapshot of what I have been working on this month in Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

‼️Campaign update 📮 A temporary Post Office is opening at the Civic Centre from 6th August. It is good to see some services returning to Uxbridge but this is a temporary fix, not a permanent solution. Opening times: Monday to Friday - 9am to 5:30pm Saturday - 9am to 1pm

🚨 Huge news! A contractor has now been signed to build the new Hillingdon Hospital. For years residents were promised a new hospital and nothing happened. No funding, no contractor, no bricks laid. This is a significant milestone and the new hospital will be one of the most advanced in the UK.

Women have been failed too long by inadequate maternity care. I questioned Baroness Valerie Amos, who chairs the independent National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation, on why the CQC (hospital inspector) is taking so long to act in cases of serious failings.

July is National Work Experience Month! Placement opportunities play an important role in helping the next generation develop the skills they need. In my office, I offer work experience to young people in Hillingdon and it's been a privilege to host some amazing people.

The BBC has reported on the Government's Best Value Notice issued to Hillingdon Council. Residents in Uxbridge and South Ruislip pay their council tax and are met with poor services and financial mismanagement. This intervention must be the wake-up call Hillingdon Council needs.

My own mum battled breast cancer - Earlier diagnosis is vital and saves lives 💗 Proud to support the launch of the Check Her Out campaign - an initiative from Novartis, in partnership with Breast Cancer Now, encouraging women to prioritise their breast health and know the signs of breast cancer.

The Government has introduced its long-awaited draft conversion practices bill. I pushed for assurance that the draft process will allow proper scrutiny of how medical professionals are defined within the bill, to ensure there is no backdoor route for those who continue these abusive practices.
