I have strong opinions sometimes. Compulsive tinkerer. Building AI projects.

For makers of products that seem to purposefully interfere with password managers working properly on your login screens... why? In what world does this result in any behaviors that are better for security?

Nothing like waking up in the middle of the night groggily worrying about who will take care of us when we’re old and senile. Then remembering how much progress has been made in humanoid robots and that we’ll definitely have an attentive robot nurse by then and we don’t have to worry about it 😂😴

Sleep stages report from Apple Watch showing a wake period from 4:00-4:30am during an otherwise restful sleep

Very proud of the product video I made for my AI email tool, Delegate! It was my first time diving into After Effects and motion graphics, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Being able to work on diverse projects is my favourite thing about indie building.

I've been making a product video in After Effects (lots of fun, highly recommend) and it's crazy how quickly my opinion of my M1 Pro with 32GB of RAM has gone from "this computer will last me another 5 years" to "this is literal garbage and I want to spend $4000 on a new computer"

Has anyone worked extensively with the OpenAI Realtime API? I’m finding it’s struggling very hard to understand my voice compared to the Advanced Voice Mode, and I’m hoping it’s due to audio handling that can be tuned and not just that it’s very bad.

It's official: I've launched my first product: Delegate! 🎉 It took much longer than I thought it would when I started, and there's so much more to build, but I'm thrilled to push it out the door. Delegate has a very narrow focus for now: it reads every email so you don't have to. meetdelegate.com

I can’t be the only indie maker to get lost in the zone for hours at a time. Reminder to get up and MOVE every so often. Helps your heart, helps your head, helps your waistline. Taking the time to get the juices flowing will probably make you more productive in the long run.

Grateful to have contributed to this fascinating study led by Dr. Liye Zou on how short exercise breaks during sitting can sharpen cognitive function and enhance brain and microvascular health. Here's the breakdown 🧵 👇

What’s great about 🦋 is that it’s open to builders in the truest sense. No hostile and locked down APIs, which means the community can experiment and create real value for everyone. Breath of fresh air! Case in point: @skircle.bsky.social

Day 2281 of cohabitation with partner, status report: I still cannot for the life of me figure out how to rearrange the padding on sports bras coming out of the wash. It’s like an infinite-sided USB-A you can only touch through a tiny hole

Launching Delegate on Monday! It will be a huge change in my work time allocation. My plan is to start with a 2h coding block first thing, and the rest of the day on distribution/SEO/content/customer outreach/etc. Would love to hear how other indies plan out their days!

This moment of electric anticipation feels like an old friend... I just merged the final code to make my product launch-ready, and it feels surprisingly close to the rush of uploading a finished manuscript back in my novelist days. The act of creation is a marvellous thing.

Bsky feels like what I'd hoped Threads would be. Already very satisfied with how I've shaped my feed here, seeing a lot of great scientific and AI research and discussion. X is mostly people shilling to each other and engagement farming, Threads was almost entirely vapid (the Instagram of text).

Looking to connect with people building cool stuff! I’m mainly in the AI space but also appreciate beautiful apps of all stripes. I spend time thinking about the impacts of AI on our lives, living well, science and nature, and more. Personal interests include: travel, hiking, tech, and science.
