Our Chief Executive, was able to congratulate our Trustee, Dr Jane Gate MBE, who has recently been awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours list! 👑 Those of us who have had the privilege of working with Jane knows how much dedication, expertise, and care she brings to everything she does.

Do you know someone looking to return to research? After a career break of two or more years for family, health or caring reasons... We have part-time funded Fellowship opportunities with Cancer Research UK (CRUK), UK Health Security Agency and in the School of Engineering at Lancaster University.

The Government will more than double support for the Daphne Jackson Trust from £1.7m to £4m per year, which will help to unlock the talent of many more researchers whose careers have been paused. Find out more in our joint-statement with @ukri.org daphnejackson.org/2026/03/ukri... #ResearchReturners

Excellent to meet VC, Professor Stephen Jarvis, again. The Trust is proud and grateful to call the School of Mathematics and Physics, at the University of Surrey, our home. We are pleased that the University shares our view to continue to develop and maximise the legacy of Professor Daphne Jackson.

Returning to research after a career break isn’t always straightforward. With the right support, it’s possible. Pathways back are vital - for individuals, for institutions, and for the future of research. If this resonates, please share! Visibility matters for researchers considering a return.

Research environments thrive on #diversity. When people step away from a linear career path, returning can be challenging. To sustain a healthy research ecosystem, we work closely with funders, hosts, and fellows to provide both financial and moral support across the research landscape.
