Went to see @operationmincemeat.bsky.social last night and, this is pretty old news, but it was amazing. Brilliantly performed as well. Plus, what a mad theatre the Fortune is… All the parts of an normal Edwardian theatre, squeezed into a tiny footprint.
Look, I get it. The BBC just doesn’t have money any more. But this was the important one for stand-ups coming through. A chance to do your own stuff, in front of a huge crowd, beautifully produced, looking shiny and amazing. Huge thanks to Anthony Caveney who produced it for years.

2/n I recently did his “show” in Belfast; a chat show for which he had gathered all his retired team together again, to do every week, for a media college in Belfast, so the students could get experience of working on a telly show. A prince of a man.

Found some lovely posters of my home town on Etsy. You know, with the sea front facing the wrong way and featuring that lighthouse we don’t have, and the local pubs the Ope and Howebts. (Biographical note: we used to go drinking in Howebts when I was a teenager. Fun times!)

Ah, that’s sad. Penelope Keith has passed away. I only met her a couple of times but she was hilarious and charming and swore like a sailor and was a total delight.

Specific Duolingo question: has anyone got into level 60/70 and found it gets very repetitive? Every end-of-unit quiz is identical. Generally happy with it up to there (in tandem with other apps and methods) but it’s getting boring now. Does it shake that off?
