I’m told the Pittsburgh sinkhole bus, which had been in a dead line to be scavenged for parts to keep other buses running, was instead fixed and put on the road yesterday. It needs a special wrap, which basically just covers the part of the back that sank, maybe an animated pavement/dirt thing.

Heard as I bicycle has a woman in the park: “I want to get a bicycle!“
Love to have my city tell RIDOT that keeping me safe on a bicycle is bad.
A proposed RIDOT project that would have brought a “shared-use path” through a Cranston neighborhood has been canceled after residents voiced concerns over the plan. Story: https://www.wpri.com/news/local-news/west-bay/ridot-cancels-proposed-cranston-shared-use-path-after-residents-raise-concerns/
Overheard: “difficult women are very fuckable” (This was a rebuttal to a misogynistic quote from Howard Stern)
Walk in local bike shop with housemate’s bike, needing repair. Get funny looks. “Hey, this time it’s not my bike!” (They just did extensive work on mine, which given how many miles it gets was not really unexpected)
With so much of New England's generation capacity coming from natural gas, every kilowatt we get from solar is good news; even with this there's still a lot of bare roofs waiting for their chance!
Which New England generating resource is producing more electricity than any other resource right now? Behind-the-meter solar.

Back to Rhode Island and on the last bus back toward Providence of the night. Lovely that we put the bus stop the furthest from the terminal. 😕 Bus a few minutes late, @transit.app has given up on it and won’t let me share that I’m on it 🙃
Dan McKee says “I’ve rubbed elbows with every walk of life”. Cool, when do you want to meet up on a RIPTA bus so you can see what your leadership is doing to the people you say you’re not above? You have my email address, hit me up.
The first #RIgov Democratic primary debate is in the books. Dan McKee was on the attack, accusing Helena Foulkes of trying to "buy" the governor's office. She bashed him for secrecy on the Wash Bridge. Some takeaways -> www.providencejournal.com/story/news/p...

My in-laws despite being the only people present did not remember that I had promised in my vows to eat all of Marie’s cilantro. I still have my vows to Marie in a note in the iOS Notes app, so 😅
I was there last week this is 100% true
Minneapolis is a great American city full of heroes
Doing things this weekend I’ve been deferential: my in-laws’ anniversary so “I’ll do what yinz want”. Exception: getting on the el after the Cubs game: “ok follow me, I know what I’m doing”

Anyway hello from Wrigley Field, where it’s the bottom of the first and the Yankees and Cubs are still 0-0
Went to the Field Museum with the in-laws today and not only did I get to see @jordantyranny.bsky.social but also @kennyuong.bsky.social
Saturday zen: Crown Fountain, Millenium Park, Chicago.
Arriving in Chicago just in time for adverse weather from Minneapolis. See, if this were a real city they’d have a skywalk system. 🤣 Of course if they were Minneapolis the skywalk system would close at 6pm so 😬
I knew I remembered seeing this skeet at some point; when Marie and I were talking about “what is the flag of vexillology” the other night this is the one I wanted to say 😅
We’re in Chicago now to meet my in-laws; we’re belatedly celebrating their anniversary. Marie had been trying to figure out why hotel rooms were so expensive. Anyway three different radio shows we listened to this afternoon reminded us about Lollapalooza so I guess I am officially old now.
Can’t even be like “sorry Minneapolis I wasn’t familiar with your game” because I totally was.
Film you’ve watched more than six times with a GIF. (I’ve also been to the train station this scene was filmed in: it still serves Amtrak in Johnstown, PA)

Tonight’s fun thing: Noel Coward’s Private Lives, at the Guthrie in Minneapolis!
To my peeps who are riding Pelotonia this weekend, much love to you and I hope it’s a great ride.
