📢 TikTok redundancies hit Dublin workers Around 300 jobs are set to go at TikTok’s Dublin office, despite plans to create 321 new roles. Workers have raised concerns about the fairness of the redundancy and redeployment process, with some describing the consultation as a “box-ticking exercise”.

Join us in opposition to Ireland's International AI Summit this October - we reject apocalyptic grand narratives of the tech giants, we refuse to accept that workers are passive victims of technology and the bosses that wield it in pursuit of their super profits Art credits below!
Their struggle is our struggle. ✊ CWU members at Covalen have shown incredible courage in standing up for union recognition, collective bargaining, and dignity at work. Many have endured months of industrial action while facing redundancies, financial hardship, and uncertainty.
Redundancy is only the beginning. New survey results from TikTok workers at risk of redundancy show deep concern about what comes next: financial insecurity, a weak jobs market, rising competition from layoffs across the tech sector, and the ability to afford housing.
Another Irish tech team is being cut. Sedgwick is culling its Irish IT team and moving the work to an outsourced provider overseas. It's the latest example of skilled tech jobs being moved elsewhere while workers are left facing uncertainty.
Covalen has introduced new restrictions requiring workers to lock away their phones during shifts, with disciplinary action for breaches. As CWU Deputy General Secretary Ian McArdle said, this is "a further tightening of the noose of control."
These cuts are about more than jobs. They're about the future of online safety. We're asking civil society organisations, trade unions, academics, researchers, politicians and public figures to support our open letter calling for greater scrutiny of TikTok's proposed restructuring.

Another round of redundancies. Another reminder of why tech workers need to organise and unionise. Concentrix has placed 85 Ireland-based workers supporting Meta at risk of redundancy as it closes its Dublin escalation desk.
Around 300 TikTok jobs are now at risk as workers face another wave of uncertainty.
Yesterday, members of the Digital and Techworker Alliance (DATA), a branch of the Communications Workers' Union, met with Labour Party representatives at the Dáil to discuss some of the key issues facing workers in Ireland's digital and tech sector.
DATA-CWU has called on the government to act to protect tech workers - we want meaningful overhauls of redundancy consultation legislation and fundamentally a legal pathway to collective bargaining and union recognition for workers who seek it.
These memes were made by TikTok workers following the latest round of announced layoffs. Behind the humour is the reality that workers are facing - uncertainty, stress, and difficult days. But here's the thing: we don't have to just accept it.
The tech sector moves fast. Companies grow rapidly and restructure overnight, leaving workers facing uncertainty with little to no warning. With reports of potential layoffs at TikTok, now is the time to organise, not after decisions have already been made.
📢 REMINDER: Public procurement isn't just a policy issue – it's a workers' rights issue. Every year, billions of euro in public contracts are awarded. Those contracts should support decent jobs, collective bargaining, and respect at work.
This Pride we're celebrating collective struggle - and the fact that Pride is a protest. We're celebrating our members in Covalen, who've been fighting all year against the power of big tech. #DATACWU #Pride2026

📢 From the Nova Atria to the Dáil - Covalen workers made their voices heard today. These protests were the culmination of months of hard work, determination, and courage from workers who have too often been pushed aside.
🚨 The Taoiseach has publicly called on Covalen to meet with the union. On 16th June, TD Eoin Hayes raised the issue of the 720 redundancies announced by Covalen directly with Taoiseach Micheál Martin in the Dáil.
📢 The fight for recognition, respect and security continues. On 11th June, Covalen workers brought their campaign to Leinster House, sharing their experiences and raising the urgent need for stronger protections for workers in the tech sector.
Today, Covalen workers were at Leinster House to meet with TDs and raise the issues facing workers across the tech sector.
