I want to share my love for the world of Digimon with everyone, showing everything I know about it. PT-BR/EN. You can support me at http://ko-fi.com/dataravel

Although Digimon Ghost Game ended, if we were to look again at that world, the adventures continue. Although Quantumon tries to keep things under control, Digimon still find their way into the Real World, causing incidents that Hiro and his friends have to solve.

BildBildBildBild

Digimon Ghost Game often featured a way out of the main conflict, a way of balancing out the dark horror elements. Although there were episodes that didn't end that happily, there were some stories that went to the plot stage and went even further, but were canceled.

A reason why Gammamon didn't really understand death was that, as a Digimon, they don't really die; they turn into a Digitama instead. But even without using the right expression, it was possible to understand it as "someone went on a journey".

BildBildBildBild

Why did Gammamon have multiple evolutions in Digimon Ghost Game? The idea was to create a partner unlike any other, and having multiple evolutions allowed for unique styles for each of them.

BildBildBild

If there was at least one series I hoped would be represented in this Ultraman x Digimon Collab, it was Ultraman Tiga. I remember researching the background of the series while working on that post exploring Light and Evolution from it and Lain. It was nice learning about it.

Habarikimon's sword was originally intended to be based on a Galient sword with elements of the Seven-Branched Sword and the Taoist Seven-Star Sword. However, adding the Big Dipper stars to the sword would be too costly, and so they were omitted.

Habakirimon was meant to look like a dignified, divine general who protects a Buddha. However, it was directed to have a facial expression akin to a Tibetan sand fox, since they were both felines, but later Moriyama noticed it might have been a poor choice of words (A fox is a feline?).

I finished the Adventure section of the video, and now I'm working on the Tamers section. I mentioned other contradictions, but a part I found funny was about the Angemon death scene, that is so unusual with Digimon Adventure that some sources just wrongly say what happened.

Working on a Digimon video and going over almost 30 years of materials is fun, but I think the first 10 minutes were the hardest part because it was a lot of Tamagotchi materials that weren't ready. I think now it will be faster; so far, the edited audio is a bit below 2 hours.

A new Digimon Tamers interview with Konaka was released to commemorate the 25th Anniversary, but the English Version states he is working on Digimon Beatbreak. It just says that it is currently being worked on and compares with Tamers about being rare to see an Original Series lasting 1 year.

Maybe one of the funniest parts is seeing the very early edit to the end-game scene that is very clearly edited to hide the Japanese text at 1st until it got a better edit later, which was then used in the promotional ads for Digimon World 3, but isn't what appears in game.

I was randomly looking at Digimon in the Web Archive when I found the E3 2002 Press CD from Bandai, and in their files for Digimon World 3, I finally found the source for those World 3-related images, which feature the unused map in the files and World 2 assets.

Although not from Digimon World 2, this scene of Renamon fighting Thunderballmon feels to me like it's just using the model and pose from Digimon World Digital Card Arena. The size wasn't adjusted, and in the proper Digimon World 3, it's much smaller and is floating.

Digimon Medley's ending teased Digimon Tamers' original climax, with the Four Holy Beasts being the final enemies, mentioning a future fight, and the guidebooks also explored it. It didn't release overseas, so I wonder if at least any Japanese fan expected a payoff in the anime.

The WonderSwan game Digimon Tamers: Digimon Medley was released on 7/12/2001 ㊗️It's the 25th anniversary🎊 Battle through button-mashing, or through Timing, come join us on an adventure❗️ You can enjoy stories from three TV series✨ #Digimon #デジモン

I was surprised when I noticed that among the Digimon announcers from back in the day, Kaiser Matsuno is one of the only ones we know the real identity and his future after Digimon (Besides Ota). Curious considering he was one of the last before the first major planning change.

Sometimes I watch old video recordings from events like the Jump Festa or E3 to see if I find anything from Digimon's sections of the events, and although I hardly find anything, I really like the few moments I see from these old events with Digimon (This is Jump Festa 2003).

Many Digimon moves weren't portrayed in the anime back in the day. According to screenwriter Hiro Masaki, Mummymon's "Necrophobia" couldn't be used in Digimon Adventure 02 because it was the name of a disease. But I wonder if they would even have used it if it had been allowed.

BildBildBild

I enjoy looking at Kodansha's old Magazine and book artwork because sometimes they drew something that didn't match what happened on TV. I like to think of this as the Digimon Frontier version where Fairimon and Chackmon won their fights without Agnimon and Wolfmon interfering.

Something to note from this is that we already knew that Impmon/Beelzebumon were intended as the protagonists of Digimon Tamers because Konaka said before that he didn't want it and would only work if the Digimon was a proper Kaiju like an Agumon-type. But there's an actual news.

Data Ravel@dataravel.bsky.social · last mo.

Kenji Watanabe designed Beelzebumon as a Dark Hero Protagonist. However, Bandai and Toei didn't approve the idea. Instead, the protagonist had to be the one opposing this Dark Hero. This resulted in the creation of the Knight-like Dukemon. The two were the starting point.

When WiZ created Digimon, they only had planning experience, but then they started helping develop the toys. But Bandai often complained about certain ideas, like toys featuring girls' partners and four-legged Digimon, due to previous poor sales (But Garurumon did well).

This had been a long time in the works, but @/Ulforce_Soul has just published an interview with both Chiaki Konaka and Kenji Watanabe for Digimon Tamers' 25th Anniversary. The interview is available on Bilibili with Chinese subtitles; link below.

Is it fine to perpetuate a battle between good and evil Digimon in the anime? Digimon Tamers was planned to have the first half fighting against the Deva and the second half against the Four Holy Beasts, but Konaka didn't want to continue these "Digimon vs Digimon" fights.

When Kenji Watanabe saw fans wanting a "Female Beelzebumon", he drew one for fun: "Beelzebumon Lady" or "Beelko". Although the design was used in a shikishi for the Digimon 15th Anniversary Box, the booklet said it was an OC that didn't appear in the Digimon series.

Working on that new Digimon video (Not sure if it'll be ready by Digimon's anniversary), I have two sections that will focus on manga, but I was only able to find available images of V-Tamer to use, so sadly Digimon Next section will be only described with character PNGs.

Data Ravel@dataravel.bsky.social · last mo.

Although Digimon Next was originally conceptualized as a manga version of Savers, the initial proper announcement being "Digital Monster Birth!!" made me wonder if readers were expecting something even more different from what became Digimon Next.
