All of the drama around Ruby really makes me so incredibly sad. Back in the day it really engendered a love of programming in me like nothing else could. It was pure magic. And now...it's just this constant bickering and infighting and a once amazing community crumbling into dust.

Apropos of nothing, I feel like it’s a good thing one of my kid’s favorite things to watch right now is the Sorcerer’s Apprentice sequence of Fantasia. The metaphor is a good one for the moment.

I’m getting frustrated with Fastmail’s spam filter. I’ve now had multiple VERY INCREDIBLY OBVIOUSLY spam emails land in my inbox, while my USPS Informed Delivery emails regularly end up in Junk. Never thought the day would come when I consider going back to Google for email.

If you’re not pulling the catalog cards yourself and then spending an hour wandering shelves and carts as you try to find the perfect tome to reference, are you even doing research?
