Today is the anniversary of Bloody Sunday when Alabama state troopers attacked peaceful protesters starting a voting rights match to Montgomery. I always honor John Lewis. Today I am thinking of Jimmie Lee Jackson who was killed during a peaceful protest a couple of weeks prior to Bloody Sunday.
Malcolm X is thought of as a person who was involved in violence against white people. But there is not a single instance where he engaged in violence. But we know of two instances where he stopped violent protest. Get it correct, he preached the right of self-defense. He spoke truth to power
Love Green Day and was thrilled when they started Holiday. But I wish the 2nd half of the song had been included. “Oh I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives”
