I am off on my moth travels again to Spain & here is the start of my long journey! It was a long 12 hour drive across France to the Spanish border in the Pyrenees! My Pyrenean crossing was again at the excellent Col du Somport - what a fantastic dawn view from sleeping in my van there!!??

This was the frantic scene, just inside my front door - loading lots of moth traps and books etc into my van leaving my inner city Birmingham house, England on the 1st of August 2026.And after a long 12 hours plus drive, right across France from Calais to the Pyrenees - here was the welcome sign for Spain at the Col du Somport crossing at 11pm on the 2nd of August 2028!And here was my sleeping spot for the night, in my van in the Spanish Pyrenees - moth-trapping at the Col du Somport, Huesca Province, Spain on the 2nd of August 2028!

Britain today: An elderly woman in a wheelchair is escorted away by the police and risks up to 14 years in prison for supporting terrorism since the Home Secretary proscribed a protest group in 2025. Her crime? She said: "I support Palestine Action and I encourage you to join".

A barrister represents his clients in court. Clients who are political dissidents. He now faces criminal prosecution for doing so. Not Turkey. Not Egypt. Not Russia. England. Astonishing, deeply disturbing, and part of a long slide towards authoritarianism. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

I genuinely, honestly, don’t understand how it’s possible to ban/jail peaceful protesters campaigning for justice for Palestinians, or who are anti-monarchy, yet permit far right agitators to continue spewing hatred on X, which leads to actual harm and violence on our streets. How? Why?

Alex Hall Hall@alexhh.bsky.social · 2mo ago

100% agree. X has become a toxic platform, run by a racist agitator who urges violence. New situations require new laws. Divisive social media platforms like X need to be regulated; and people using it to incite riots should be held criminally liable. Why are our politicians unable to act?

Owen Jones is 100% right here & when he spells it out, the response by the media host here, instead of really engaging with this truth & the seriousness of these orchestrated racist riots & attacks, is to shut him up & turn the discussions back to the British normal .. calm pathetic semi-apathy.

Our politicians and media have whipped up racist violence. We have a choice: We either face down the hatred Or our country will descend into the abyss

I feel strongly about this, plus it's personal (Brexit has affected my family profoundly). This petition seems to be doing well, but could do with more shares and signatures if you're eligible (British Citizen or UK Resident) and feel strongly about this too. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/74...

Petition: Apply to Rejoin the EU as soon as possible to increase growth in the UK

We believe Brexit's not working. The OBR judges that the UK economy is smaller and trade is weaker because of Brexit, and it will just get worse. 10 years after the Brexit vote, let's apply to rejoin ...
