As I learn Spanish Spanish I realize all the effort my parents put in to stopping me lisping was an utter waste.
Speaking for my field this rings true. An LLM can create an amazing looking website and documentation faster than a human could but at a greater cost for checking your work or, usually, somebody else’s work.
13. Hence our dismal conclusion: rather than finding that LLMs free us to do a better job of what we were doing before they came along, they shift scientific incentives (and the playing field of academic competition) in ways that compel us to do more and more, faster and faster, less and less well.
I am not going to say I am annoyed about work but I used a very common British phrase about somebody today that gets an angry smack from my better half because it refers to as she says a very beautiful thing. It doesn’t change my stance. And I used it for good reason.
We have been rewatching Malcom in the Middle. It is a tragedy, albeit an understandable one that Erik Per Sullivan skipped the reunion show. He was amazing. I still don’t understand how somebody went from Hal to ‘that’s Heisenberg!’ @stephengallagher.co.uk any ideas?
There is a video of Alaska Airlines removing a Christian weirdo from a flight. Yay. Good on them. I’ve wondered about what I would do if I come across one and my wonderful other half’s approach of launching into a loud rendition of “The sun will come out tomorrow” springs to mind.
Either been a truck driver or ‘farmer’. The inverted commas are there for a reason. Never met that granddad, does not sound like I missed out.
Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?
After a few weeks off GLP1s at the suggestion of my doctor I am back on the lowest dose. Well let me just say it is not looking good right now for a smooth on boarding.
Time to start muting the most recent US exceptional thread I think.
People talk about what it says about America that Trump got elected by 1% after losing twice but to me the really damning thing about this country isn't that, it's that if Larry Hogan somehow got the GOP nomination, he'd win with like 525 electoral votes.
I have to say, I will be more impressed with action heroes who can just carry on after getting some bruised or cracked ribs going forward. Because, it still hurts like a bastard a week later and I'm still waking in the night when I roll over.
$60. It was said at the time. It’s still the most likely. It beggars belief this rubbish was forced into EFTs and other trackers.
$SPCX - SPACEX SHARES HIT ALL-TIME LOW, LAST DOWN 3.9% AT $110.6
Being blocked for disagreeing with somebody about the tedious f v C debate is weird.
Friday movies. Apex. After losing husband Eric Bana in a climbing accident, Charlize Theron goes to his native Australia to continue adventuring. There she meets dodgy accented Taron Everton (he was born in England in the story) who turns out to be a very bad man and she has to run for her life.
I am definitely in danger of having a document called document_name_final_final_REALLY-final...
Of Mice and Men All Quiet on the Western Front Animal Farm 1984 There was a DH Lawrence. Can’t remember what. The Orwell’s were fine.
US and UK friends, I'm curious: What books were part of your required reading for highschool literature class? Which of them do you remember loving, and which did you loathe?
If I were a cynic I would suggest that the way Claude Code handles 'finding' skills and applying them is purely a way in which it drives up token use for no good reason.
We have switched over to US coverage to watch the half time show. I think I have noticed there is some washing up needing doing.
I don’t know what I just watched. That was the maddest football match I’ve ever watched.
This game is mad. Madder than a bag of spiders mixed with cryptid raccoons.
Watching Argentina v England rugby and reminded yet again that the Puma’s play amazing rugby. It’s like the complete opposite of the football time when it comes to playing.
Couple of routes: For sure Georg Von Teesenhausen > Werner Von Braun > Hitler But as GVT worked for WVB at Piedermunde it’s entirely possible he also met Hitler direct.
As I discovered when there was a "how many degrees of separation are you from Adolf Hitler" discussion a while back, Herbert Hoover is also virtually the only notable American who ever met him.
Well new achievement unlocked. Brushed a wasp’s nest while walking the dog. Ran away and fell over. But not before picking up 12 stings. I am, it must be said, in quite a lot of pain.
I tried cooking a ragu based on a technique by Marco Pierre White. Ok then. I guess that’s how you get a Michelin star at 33. Gosh.
