now that vibe coding is viable we need more BitChat type platforms. I'd like to see a full cyberpunk ecosystem and a truly server-less cloud-less internet emerge. the tech billionaires and corporate overlords and military industrial complex saw an obvious chokepoint and colonized it.
The real "bitter lesson" is that the goalposts keep moving. The original "bitter lesson" was that "general strategies with high compute tend to outperform expert systems" Oh but now that's not good enough, the AI needs to play and experiment and *that* is the *real* bitter lesson.
The AI doomers are still around but the vibe has shifted. Rather than the prosaic, holier-than-thou attitude of the previous years, the entire tone has shifted to "poor us, we're the chosen few... but no one gets it... no one is listening... oh well... le sigh" Such an interesting phenomenon .
Once, my dog saw shadows on ground of big fat bees flying above him. He kept trying to catch the shadows. No matter what we did, we couldn't convince him that the bees over his head were real. Thus is the nature of the Internet, and all of you reading this.
That unmatched sense of satisfaction when you have the most powerful AI available at your fingertips but you're so content you have no further questions.
